Why Williams will beat Skelton
Why Williams will beat Skelton
Skelton is undefeated but is 38 years old, only went pro 2 years ago, has no amateur background and has been fighting at British level, which is absolutely terrible right now. As badly as Williams got beaten by Klitschko in December, he showed unbelievable heart to keep getting up and he is by far the most skilled British fighter at the moment, has years and years more experience than Skelton. Skelton just windmills his punches and I don't think he has the power that people seem to think he has. I also think his stamina will let him down against Williams. Yes, Williams was beaten by Sprott who Skelton KO'd but I think this was because it was a third fight against a guy Williams beat twice already and everybody knows Danny has suffered motivation problems in the past.
It's an interesting theory John and not out of the question at all, however i am of the thinking that Williams will crumble under the physical attack of Skelton. You can't fault Skelton for his fights so far either he has an impressive record already for a guy his age, makes Audley's constant treading water look even less credible.
I agree with you Steve that the physical strength-draining pressure Skelton will put Williams under will test him to the limits and I give Skelton huge credit for what he has achieved and seems one of the nicest guys around outside of the ring. It will also be interesting to see whether we see a fat or more conditioned version of Danny. I think everybody expects this to be a right brawl and I'm really looking forward to it.
Anybody else see the Khan fight is AFTER the Williams-Skelton fight, bizarre!

No-one can argue that Danny is the superior technician. He has also been operating at a higher level, and is several years younger.
However, there are several reasons I don’t like Danny in this fight
However, there are several reasons I don’t like Danny in this fight
- 1. He took such a beating vs Klitshcko – although he was incredibly brave that punishment will have left its mark and I thought he looked very slow against his overmatched opponent last time.
2. He has frozen so many times on the big occasion
3. I don’t think he will get the tactics right (again) and use his skills – he has promised a brawl which is right up Skelton’s street.
Exactly my view. And add if he is 270 lbs, that's another problem.neverwin wrote:No-one can argue that Danny is the superior technician. He has also been operating at a higher level, and is several years younger.

To sum it up, Skelton is full of confidence and Williams is shopworn and riddled with self-doubt.

This could be a domestic version of Lennox Lewis - Michael Grant where the amateur is completely exposed. It's just that Williams is so weak mentally that I really think Skelton has a chance.topper123 wrote:I'm still going for Williams by 3rd round KO, his better punching will catch Skelton on the way in, the uppercut is a main weapon for Williams and see him using it to good effect in this fight.
I respect Skelton for what he has done , but think that he will get found out on Saturday night.
This could actually be a very tight controversial decision. Could be a very exciting first few rounds before slowing down into an awful clinching maul.
Or knowing Skelton and Williams it could just be an awful maul from the off...
