EBU heavyweight future

"Nothing is confirmed but EBU heavy champ Paolo Vidoz from Italy could be making his mandatory defence against the mandatory challenger, Brit Michael Sprott, October 1 in Germany with Sauerland Event promoting. The winner is then to take on Cengiz Koc in a voluntary defence. Purse bids for Vidoz vs Sprott should have been held Tuesday July 12 but the parties now have until July 18 to reach an agreement."

Why does the winner have to fight Koc if its a voluntary?

If it goes to purseoffer then they dont have to, but if they reach an agreement they its part of the contract.

Vidoz and Sprott have both agreed to accommodate Koc one way or the other.

Mr.Sauerland must have made a secure contract with Vidoz....

I only knew that the EBU gave Sprott the right to fight for the title next. I didn´t know that Vidoz has to fight in Germany now.....

If Sprott would win he could face the winner of Skelton/Williams as a mandatory after the fixed Koc-fight....

Other option could be a fight vs Luan Krasniqi when he loses vs Brewster what hopefully doesn´t happen....

I think Vidoz had to sign a 3 fight agreement with Sauerland if he wanted to fight Hoffmann.

Worth it just for that. I like the promoters' decision of a warm up: Saurerland: Rhode-Koc

He should fight Mark Krence who pulled out because of an injury. So Rhodes is a last minute replacement....

That would have been quite an interesting match-up actually, certainly an interesting choice for Gammer.

Not that it's really important, but will Sprott have to vacate the EU title to fight Vidoz?

Yes, you cant fight for the EBU belt and have the EU belt, so the belt is already vacant. Koc is one of the challengers for the belt, but he might withdraw because of the EBU fight

Yes, you cant fight for the EBU belt and have the EU belt, so the belt is already vacant. Koc is one of the challengers for the belt, but he might withdraw because of the EBU fight

The EU belt might be something for the next Spotlight event on Eurosport.

BTW - EBU has defences penned in for Pickering and Cook.

Pickering has Hunter (agreement dealine 30th July)

Cook has Cyril Thomas again, deadline 16th September

Sprott will fight Vidoz on either September 17th or october 1st on a Sauerland promoted card.
