I don't really see the point in carrying someone.

I'd have thought promoters would rather employ a journeyman that tests their man and can turn them over if they're not on form (or just not good enough).

I've heard Johnny Greaves say the same thing before, get them beaten!!

There's nothing more annoying than a house fighter receiving a gift decision or a BS stoppage in a fight they're clearly losing. It's time some of these journeymen turned the tables.

If you all did it, there'd be no choice over who gets the call.

Ryan, your a tough lad mate. I'd have to dissagree with you being number one though pal. I boxed everyone. & I was busier than you in my first two years. My opponents have been top.drawer from day one. I used to have a tear up every time like you but soon realised every time I won I still lost. If you wanna get to 100 like me, having a war every time ain't gonna do you any favours. Your a good lad son, keep up the good work

i know how the business works but journeymen can be so frustrating at times - watched ryan box in sunderland a few month back and he could easily have won easily i thought with a lil bit effort

Ryan Is alot better than his record suggests. Just needs to work abit more in rounds and i am sure he will pick up some wins. Definitely adds spice to a contest. Adios

watched ryan fight 4 or 5 times hes a tough mofo earns his money like the rest of the lads that are classed as journeymen, i keep telling poeple without these type of fighters that fight ANYBODY with no more than a few days notice the game would be dead they all have my utmost respect if i havent had a good few weeks training i dont feel ready to fight these fellas only need a day!!!

I really don't see how that would be the case.

Surely part of being a promoter is finding out the capabilities of your fighters. It takes as much time to look after someone that can't fight as it does someone that can, so you may as well find out which ones are which?

Peter McDonagh still gets fights, despite turning a few people over in his time.

Most journeyman, want to fight often as poss. Peter don't fight that often, & he don't get jobs against first timers & novices. We fight every other week & turning em over won't let you do that. That's how it works.

I liked Thorpey aswell. Unfortunatly that's him retired now. Think the board took his licence. There's a good few journeyman out ther, Jonny, Sid Rasak, Delroy Spencer, Kristain Leight, there's a good few oh forgot Yussef El Hamidi,

Al Hamidi is one tough fella - only stopped once in 35 defeats and has a few decent wins on his record. He has gone the distance with a few top boxers aswell - Burns, Cook, Foster Jr, Carl Johanneson to name but a few. He gets my vote as the top active journeyman.
