Takaloo
Good to see former world champion Takaloo in Prizefighter, will a win get him another world title shot.
At 35 would a fringe world title be out of his reach

Re: Takaloo
Takaloo held a WBU belt did he not, not the greatest of the belts but on a par with a WBC is it not
And Takaloo was a solid good pro deserving of his chance

I can't be sure, but I think they managed to charge his wife with it, but he didn't. You can prob google it to confirm.Bob Wright wrote:Didn't he get done for benefit fraud or something similar?
It was over something like 5+ years too, so pretty serious indeed if my memory serves me correct.
Personally I absolutely detest people who move to this country and then frig the benefit system.

I detest anyone who frigs the benefit system whether born here or not, the firing squad should suffice.G0mez wrote:I can't be sure, but I think they managed to charge his wife with it, but he didn't. I hate a mate who claimed that he pished the bed in order to get an extra tenner on his giro (most of the unemplyed in the east end where at it) in the 80'sbanjo wrote:I detest anyone who frigs the benefit system whether born here or not, the firing squad should suffice.G0mez wrote:I can't be sure, but I think they managed to charge his wife with it, but he didn't. Re: Takaloo
I remember watching Takaloo in a few fights that were aired over here on 'Friday Night Fights', the last one I seen him in, I think was against Anthony Farnell, I always enjoyed watching him and wondered what happened to him, good to see him making a comeback, at least for one last hoorah.

Re: Takaloo
I was at the Farnell fight at the Velodrome.
I cant believe it was 10 years ago.
Arnie was so hyped up you had to drag him off the ceiling, and that was on the way to the ring. Ultimately that led to his downfall.
Tak caught him with a beaut and that was it - all over.
The atmosphere that night was electric.
Arnie might let us have his take on it, when he's next nosying around here.

Re: Takaloo
He is mate - and doesn't hide it. He is Arnie !
Tak was a very dangerous opponent but lacked consistency.
That said that was part of the attraction.
I think it's too late now for him to get back up there and to be honest I don't think Tak is thinking along those lines.
Maybe Przefighter is his swansong - but then again, if he won it, who knows ?
Does anyone know if he's arranged his 4 round warm up yet ?

Re: Takaloo
Last I saw or heard of him he got beaten by Anthony Small?
Good luck to him but it must say alot about the quality of the line up if he is the main attraction....

Re: Takaloo
I remember him winning the first few rounds against Santos and dropping him but lost his way after that, although he [Santos] could be a slow starter.
He was always entertainment, win or lose. I remember him causing huge upsets against Dixon & Farnell and then getting absolutely starched against Wayne Alexander (who I spoke to about that fight and he said it was the best punch he ever landed). The fights with Oweida & Khaliq were pretty exciting too.
