You should know to be far more gentle with me after the last few days I've had with Saxon !
Glad about that - I thought you'd got a beef with me !

Yeah - I heard the same about his early time at the gym. He became a very good fighter who maybe could have achieved some more.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Brendan Ingle has told me on a few occasions that his biggest success story is Johnny 'Brokeback' Nelson.
OK, I added the 'Brokeback' but the point is that when he began, Nelson was terrible apparently. But he showed great tenacity and learned a lot.
OK too, he's been involved in the two worst 'world' title fights I've ever seen but to come back from that and have a great career, all marbles intact, a good few quid and a media career...wow, that's some achievement.
I would say though he has 3 in the top 10 worst world title fights ever though...... Waring, De Leon and Jones.

Re: The plot to kidnap Johnny Nelson
The time of the kidnapping threat was tough for him.
He was sworn to secrecy and confided in no one, until it was all over.
No one was ever arrested / caught for this, and the story is best left where it sits - history.

Re: The plot to kidnap Johnny Nelson
i remember the case being taken very seriously & kept under wraps & people thinking how can a big boxer be worried & not realising his kids could be snatched & his family brought to harm. it is very worrying & hard to defend your family when you've been plotted on & you dont know who your enemy is.
like twenty is saying the story should not be unearthed especially on a sports forum, maybe a crime investigation site or somthing.

Re: The plot to kidnap Johnny Nelson
Just putting a lighter slant on it,(we both laugh about it now) while this was all going on, and no one but Johnny had a clue, I sneaked up behind him at the Cashpoint in Meadowhall Shopping Centre and stuck my fingers in his back.
Won't tell you what I said but you'll get my drift.
Poor old Johnny swung round after shitting his pants !
I thought at the time it was weird, then of course he was able to tell us all what had gone on once it was over.
When you've got to change your school runs daily for example, it does take its toll.

If I was a kidnapper a boxer would not be top of my list....maybe they came around to realise this.

Re: The plot to kidnap Johnny Nelson
hear hear......the trollish elements and, i dont neccesarily mean the thread ressurector, are ruining this forum lately, the three idiots such as yid, hurlock and ginacarlo. posts and membership seems to be down....this kind of thread shouldnt be trivialised.twenty six wrote:Fightfans,
What was exactly was your motivation in resurrecting this from 8 years ago ?
It is all well trivialising this, but at the time it was very unpalateable for Johnny, his family, and close friends.
lets see how quickly one of these trolls arrives to troll me. I cant even fart on this page without hurlock being on here like flies to shit in one second. still at least he has stopped stalking my inbox.
