Barrios out... Matthysse in !
Looks like the manslaughter charges have scuppered Barrio leaving Argentina.
Step forward Matthysse - and I think he's gonna beat Morales.
Perhaps could see Khan vs Matthysse then in the winter.

Ha. Ha. Ha.
Purely at those concerned who were gonna let that bastard Barrios fight for the title.
I too, take Mathysse to rip Erik a new one.
Khan vs Mathysse would be an excellent fight. I'd take Khan on points, but at some point I bet the Argie clocks him with that straight right, & then it'll get interesting... Maidana is probably heavier handed but Mathysse is quicker & punches more correctly, if you ask me (& is therefore more likely to KTFO you than a guy who clumps you on the earhole).

Matthysse is a beast. It could be a painful one for Morales.

This has assuaged my anger over Bradley being stripped.

"assuaged" what a great word, I had to go look it up as I have never heard it before.crusader wrote:This has assuaged my anger over Bradley being stripped.
Now if only i now knew how to pronounce it.

I remember Linkere on MOTD a couple of seasons ago going through a little obsession with the word 'assuaged', I'm sure he said it at least once a week.Jon Saxon wrote:"assuaged" what a great word, I had to go look it up as I have never heard it before.crusader wrote:This has assuaged my anger over Bradley being stripped.

odds are out now, though only with one book.
Is it worth taking the 6/5 available on Matthysse now or do you think that the general consensus with the bookmakers is that Morales is a favourite?

I bet there were things he said far more often than that and you don't accuse him of being obsessed with those.TheCobra wrote:I remember Linkere on MOTD a couple of seasons ago going through a little obsession with the word 'assuaged', I'm sure he said it at least once a week.Jon Saxon wrote:"assuaged" what a great word, I had to go look it up as I have never heard it before.crusader wrote:This has assuaged my anger over Bradley being stripped.

People now days! Constant double standards!
Re: Barrios out... Matthysse in !
The fight will probably go the distance. I would think Mattysse's work rate would win it for him, like Maidana's did against Morales.littlekinny wrote:odds are out now, though only with one book.

They opened up Friday afternoon and I took the 2/1 Matthysse, pleased to see it has moved also took the 8/11 McCloskey to beat Prescott which is now 4/6, think that is a steal really.Asterix wrote:The fight will probably go the distance. He certainly didn't say 'Well done West Ham' an awful lot.

Good luck. I think the main issue with the fight is that Golden Boy will want Morales to win in order to set up a fight with Khan. I would worry about home cooking.GLOBALBOX wrote:They opened up Friday afternoon and I took the 2/1 Matthysse, pleased to see it has moved also took the 8/11 McCloskey to beat Prescott which is now 4/6, think that is a steal really.Asterix wrote:The fight will probably go the distance. That was my big concern.
Re: Barrios out... Matthysse in !
They'll bring cortez in to pull off Mattysse.
Just like when he pulled away Hatton from Floyd and Maidana against Khan.

Can Morales make Lightweight anymore? When he announced his comeback he was harbouring a fight with JMM at Lightweight. Even when he fought Willie Limond he assured people he wouldn't be fighting at Light Welter when he steps up.
I hope his brave effort against Maidana isn't inflating his ego - he really would be better off at Lightweight.
Despite the impressive effort against Maidana, I do think Morales is one of the oldest 34 year old fighters I have seen. Isn't he actually YOUNGER than Mayweather? His handspeed is completely shot.
Whilst it showed Morales is still competitive at world level, I still think the fight showed more about Maidana than it did about Eric's comeback form and I think Matthysse is a much better all rounder than Maidana.
I would give Morales a big chance against any Lightweight other than JMM. However, I think his options of winnable fights at world level at Light Welter are far more restricted. I'd give him a shout against Maidana, Alexander, Judah - maybe even Bradley. I think Khan and Matthysse are all wrong for him. People say Morales has the power to hurt Khan, Amir will see these now slow punches coming a mile away.

Bradley would pepper him.
