"A man charged with stabbing another man to death at a Sydney public housing block is suffering injuries himself and was unable to appear in court.

Craig Charles Pitts, 28, suffered a large wound to his hand and did not appear when his matter came before Central Local Court on Wednesday.

Police charged him with the stabbing murder of John Marceta, 38, who was found dead about 12.30pm (AEST) on Tuesday in the hallway of a public housing block in the inner suburb of Redfern."

That's very sad news, he used to train at wooloomooloo. I never seen any of his fights, but they reckon he was a big puncher. I heard he had only 3 amutear fights and lost all 3, than in the pros he became Australian super champ great effort. I was actualy talking to him last year, he was in the gym good bloke all the best to his family & friends.

I didn't know John as a boxer, but saw him around quite a bit. He always said: "Hello" and was a very nice person to me. I liked him as he was very helpful to one of my elderly neighbors and although not in a good crowd...he was still quite a decent fella.

Very very sad state of affairs...may he RIP.
