I am a boxing fan.
I am well into my fifties.
I've followed boxing for 33 years, travelling all over the place.
I am lucky to have friends in the boxing fraternity.
You seem to class me as "in the trade".
Why ?
I only comment on stuff that I think I have a reasonable knowledge on and either that will marry with another poster's opinion or will oppose another poster's opinion.
What then follows is a debate on the subject.
I don't indulge in petty crappy gutter language and jokes I used to tell in the 60's in the playground.
Long long before you were around here I've had many a heated debate with other posters.
Sometimes I was proven to be right, other times I was proven to be wrong.
Isn't that exactly what a FORUM is about ?
If what you seek is a genuine debate without fear of reprisals tone down your crap, be factual and put forward your argument in a stuctured manner - but for Christ's sake if you use inflamatory language like Rhodes is a bottler, Rhodes is a flop what the do you expect ?

I said I wouldnt mention it but you brought it up, IMO he bottled it and could have "dared to be great" but didnt..end of, Your judgement is impared because you are close to him, in short you are biased about your mate and rightly so, good on you for sticking up for him you did what I would do and I respect you for that. but like I said I'm a fan and on other sites and in talking online during fightnight loads of people have said that he crapped out of going for it, it's all pub talk at the end of the day, I'm not the sensitive one here, you are, think about what I have written, it is the likes of YOU who jump down peoples throats when nice guy Ryan fails to deliver, it's 'fan talk' you need to lighten up.
As for the exact phrase http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/sho ... p?t=199795 mate you need to chill as it's a common boxing phrase.
Bruno bottled it bigtime agaist Tyson 2 and I could go on with a list of fighters like alex stewart etc etc who shat their panties before the fight.
Persoanlly I think Ryan bought into the hype and nothing you can say will ever change that fact for me.

One other thing I will "tone down" fuk all, this is me, I write the way I speak, I am me I am here deal with it.
I'm sorry If this upsets you mate but I'm just being honest and thats all I can be.
"I'm just as god made me sir" (great quote btw , I wonder how many on here will get that? classic line!!)

Lets just agree to differ then ok? then all this stuff (the pm's im getting wont though and keep em coming but ffs you lot, be more creative :D ) between me and Yorkshire will stop.

If you want pub talk - go to the pub !!!
Bottom line is you've underestimated the intellect of many posters - who are here just for boxing.
If you want the gay banter, go to Eastside, Doghouse etc.
I've been on those sites over the years and walked away.
Oh and seriously, do you perceive that you have upset me ?
Do me a favour.
Posters like you have come and gone time after time after time.
You're not the first, and you won't be the last.
Anyway that's my last take on it.

But I have been here for nealry 3 years and I aint going nowhere.

Are you some mad amish christian "If you want pub talk go to the pub" this is a fuking online forum what else do you expect??
And YES I do think I have upset you BIGTIME, and the funny thing is that was never my intention, I didn't even know who you were/are.

But you do come accross as a bit of a over sensitive boxing groupie judging by the way you have acted, pick your toys back up man and move on.

It's funny as I keep saing the I really like Ryan etc etc yet all you do is pick up on the parts you dont like.

I "underestimate" no man and there are some great quality posters on here but please stop trying to put down the DogPound, there are some great smart members posters on there and I am proud to be a member of both forums.
It's the net go surf watch some porn crack one off then chill out.
You sound like a bit of a net snob.

Here's a freebie for ya...

What the f**k are you talking about ?
First I'm a prick. Then I'm a fanny. Then I'm both ! Now I'm a Christian with groupie tendencies.
All because I don't say what you want me to.
You did say earlier agree to disagree.
Sounds like a good idea to me.
I have more logical discussions with the kids at my daughter's Nursery.

WOW what have i missed. Why was Ryan Rhodes called a bottler for one? I think calling any guy to ever get in between the ropes (amateur, semi or pro) to be downright disrespectful. Okay, with the exception of Audley against Haye lolol. But Rhodes had a go, and then realised he wasn't good enough. That's not bottling it to me. Bottling it is not trying at all.

Maye be it's a culture thing but loads of people use the phrase. Bruno bottled it big-time but Ryan simply never went for it. (I would say that his arsed collapsed rather than bottling it but that's how 'we soap dodging weegies' roll:-)

One other thing, this whole "I respect any man who gets into the ring"? what shite!!
I don't respect rapists and murderers and there are plenty of boxers of that ilk.

Judge a man on how he treats people in real life not between the ropes.

Chin up Jon. If you can't talk frankly about your take on things then what's the point?

Your bit about Rhodes performance is a valid enough take on the situation, it's just the delivery that's causing problems. To me, that's the difference between someone who's just being a c*nt for the sake of being c*nty and someone who has a point but lacks diplomacy or just can't be arsed sugarcoating it.

If you'd have just said Rhodes didn't perform in a manner befitting the occassion, i.e a last roll of the dice at elite level which he'd toiled for years to bring about. I don't think there'd be as much fuss, even though you're essentially covering the same ground by condensing the situation into a statement like 'he bottled it'. This isn't Ryan's local, it's not his mum's front room, it's a bloody forum for frank and open discussion. While the majority of us who share that opinion, spared adding insult to injury, it doesn't change the fact that we were thinking it.

On another note, the idea that someone doesn't belong here if they aren't prepared to dually express what they've posted, 'in the flesh', is daft. You're trying to justify the silencing of opinion by virtue of the threat of violence. Fair enough, there has to be some sort of line drawn in the sand, if someone turns up and post #1 consists of them venting spleen, riding an agenda, then it's probably not going to hurt the bigger picture by cutting them loose. However, I'd much rather be in an environment that tolerates the likes of Jon and allows others to entertain the idea that they can say what they really think about aspects of a sport they love without getting caught up in this 'you've never boxed so you don't count' bollocks.

I'd rather be my own censor and let the mods take care of the obvious trolls, than have this place turn into an industry circle jerk. The idea of a separate trade section won't work imo because it's a two-way street for a lot of the 'names' who post here. Do you honestly think Jeff would've gotten his crack at Prizefighter or Tony his last minute shot at Cleverly had they not been mixing with the masses? I'm sure they've had to swallow a fair amount of stick along the way, but their choice to engage with boxing fans means that we know them (to a degree) and when their voice needs to be heard, they'll have hundreds, maybe thousands of voices amplifying their own.

So, in summary, keep on keepin' on Jon, we don't all hate you.

Maybe not respected as men but as you like to quote "I respect any one who steps in between those ropes" - Floyd Mayweather Jr. I certainly don't respect Edwin Valero as a man after what he did to his family but as a fighter then I have the up most respect. Have a white collar or amateur boxing match Jon and you will gain respect. In terms of what the other guy said, he is right. Its the way in which you present yourself and your opinions. For example Haye saying he is going to bash someone up and knock their teeth in to the back of their throat is considered disrespectful. Kevin Mitchell says I'm going to go in there, tough fight, do the buisness knock him out and then shake his hand. End product "both saying they'll win by knockout".
I'm not one to beat around the bush etc. But i bet when your boss talks to you Jon then you suck up and sugar coat everything. Now i stand up to my boss but me saying that to all you isnt going to get me brownie points, Jon i can tell that you talk/type before you think. Boxing is a hard hard sport with very little reward at the end. Not many fighters retire and never need to work again.
So you saying he didn't perform befitting the occasion well maybe so but at then end of the day he is 35. He has been stopped twice previously and if he was to be stopped early on in fight then his stock would plummet. As it stands he could easily be in for an european title shot or even a shot with Cornelius Bundradge. What some fans sometimes forget is this is not just a sport but a buisness too. And a buisness man doesn't blow all his load on a difficult venture if it means that it rules out any possibilities of future buisness chances.

The Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannatyne has been forced to delete tweets after offering a £50,000 reward for anyone who broke the arms of a man who used Twitter to threaten his daughter.

My "Empire" extends from Ozz to the US,
Bannatyne has slightly more money than me at this point, but I have had the option to appear in a similar show. I'm in I.P. Music Publishing, Promotions.

Actually thinking about it, it's actually 4, I forgot about my property company.

Last year my company I did one of the biggest I.P. deals in history with the biggest owners of IP in the world, that will now run into perpetuity. The deal took two years for me to personally negotiate.

Sadly I also am involved a lot in litigation, (i.e I pursue companies that steal things from me) but it's not something I enjoy.

BTW the reason I'm on the forum so much at the mo is twofold, I snapped the tendon on my foot 6 weeks ago and I also got some bad(ish) medical news and I am awaiting some test results whilst resting at home and talking shite online whilst playing fight night champ.

Think of me as a low budget version of Tony Stark :D
