Tom Dallas
How would you build him back up? Put him back in with the (with respect) lower end domestic guys such as Carl Baker, Scott Belshaw, Butlin, Danny Hughes and the like. Or look to push him on as if the loss hadn't happened. You can't discount the fact he had a week or so's prep for fighting David Price. Or do you bring in some imports for him to take on?

Wait till Price and Fury move up then Dallas will be british king pin
Re: Tom Dallas
Its a tough one, if I am brutally honest I think - I think Price beats Dallas convincingly 10 times out of 10 - no matter how long the prep. Dallas has looked like an accident waiting to happen for a while and was very lucky to beat Zack Page.
Having said that..... I think similar was said about John McDermott also, and while he will never be a world beater - he has forged a good career out of being chief support to main event and fighting for Area titles.... can Dallas do the same?
Difference between the two when they were going through this stage was the depth of talent is greater now.... in McDermott's youth you had Skelton, Williams and Sprott and that was really it. Harrison was inactive, as was Ellis - so the area titles were so much more open. Now we have the likes of Sexton, Chisora, Price, McDermott, Rogan, Sprott etc.... and below that Towers (prospect), Larry etc.
Dallas is at an awkard level of development - at the moment he would blow out the likes of Belshaw etc, but would lose heavily to the likes of Sexton, Chisora, Sprott, Price etc.... The middle ground would be a shoot out with someone like Larry, Rogan etc.
So I would suggest looking at some durable European fighters to get his development and look and try and win an area title..... maybe try and entice someone like Scott Gammer, Mickey Steads out of retirement - or add someone like Coleman Barratt to the mix. I wouldn't like to see Dallas vs a Belshaw - that would just be a blow out.

Re: Tom Dallas
I agree with Stu (although Mcdermott is more all rounded than Dallas)
Dallas needs to learn alot, he's far too one dimensional for the top level British Fighters but too big a puncher for guys just looking to get a pay day.
He needs to go in with durable fighters who have a high work rate so he can work on his head and upper body movement and get the rounds in - easier said than done though in terms of match making!
Overall I think he's nothing more than a domestic level fighter as he's too rigid and predictable for the next step up.

Re: Tom Dallas
It would be pointless to put him in with an import who he'll blow out early. He's better off picking up from where he was before the Price fight because at the end of he day he took that fight with just days notice.
Re: Tom Dallas
Agree with everything you said there Stu. They should put him in with Big Larry. I don't see the point in having him beat a Belarussain in 1round. Prizefighter any1?
Re: Tom Dallas
I think the next heavyweight prizefighter could genuinely have Big John Mc (if he loses to price of course), Big Larry and Big Tom in it. Could make for a very interesting nightDougieC30 wrote:Agree with everything you said there Stu. They should put him in with Big Larry. Re: Tom Dallas
I'd put him in with 1 pregnant Latvian just for confidence, then Belshaw and then look at fighting Larry, He should deal with them to be honest but after that there is a bit of a problem because the difference in quality between Larry, Belshaw and the likes of Rogan, McDermott, Fury, Chisora, Sprott is quite dramatic

Sounds good mate. Prizefighter is a good option for him and with the guys in the heavyweight divison there could be a host of worthy contenders.Josh1111 wrote:I think the next heavyweight prizefighter could genuinely have Big John Mc (if he loses to price of course), Big Larry and Big Tom in it. Dallas would lose heavily to Sprott and Sexton?
Absolute garbage. Sprott for some reason is incredibly overrated on here. A washed up Audley Harrison beat him despite ripping his chest muscle in the 2nd round. Sprott is at the bottom end of the domestic heap.

Re: Tom Dallas
If I were Maloney, I'd have a little 6 rounder, to build some confidence then look for a Sexton fight. Sam needs an outing, is a decent rounded operator but doesn't bring the advantages Price had or the style of Page.
But Frank will have a plan.

100% wrong atm. in fact the most believable thing out of all that is Audley's torn chest muscle.

Re: Tom Dallas
I think Dallas will do well, i'd give him a fight against belshaw and im sure tom would not knock him out. Then, perhaps rogan and take it from there. Tom will be back and does not need prizefighter just yet.
he definately needs to box on the back foot alot more, he has the reach for it as well.

Re: Tom Dallas
For me I reckon Tom Dallas' comeback rouote should a couple of 8 rounders in a quick succession, a 10 rounder for the Southern Area or English title than an eliminator for the British and/or Commonwealth title/s.
Re: Tom Dallas
I'm not sure McDermott was really any better Dallas when he first lost. He was making some critical errors.... Maloney did an excellent rebuild job on him - but its a different era now. The mid to low end of the top ten now is much better than it was back then.Lloydy wrote:I agree with Stu (although Mcdermott is more all rounded than Dallas)

McDermott has become a better fighter through the excellent rebuild by his team.
Re: Tom Dallas
Mmm - thats not a bad call, I think Airich beats him. I think a couple of durable Europeans - durable being the key word first and then Airich.... but a good call and a decent name. If confident, I would offer Airich home advantage as he is known in Europe. It would be a bigger scalp in Germany (and other parts of Europe) than it would be over here.joelouis1234 wrote:well,Konstantin Airich's got a high workrate and a reasonable good ranking at 110 and would be a good fight to keep him on his toes and to hopefully get some rounds in.
