Well perhaps it will lead to local production of clothing and, say, steel again. We have the resources to be self sufficient here, yet we sell those resources over seas and buy them back again as product.

Australian manufactured clothing, such as woolen suits, leather shoes and woolen and cotton socks used to be a good middle to high end export, Australian manufactured steel using local resources was a major export.

Interestingly, our dollar has soared against the green back, they have no jobs and no money to spend on holidays over here any way, yet remains constant against Asian economies. The Euro and Pound (linked to the Euro) have fallen, it's not a case of us getting stronger against them, but them getting weaker. The yanks have not done us any favours in regards to our exports in the past and even if we remained at 80c against their greenback, they wouldn't be coming here any way, no Pommie backpackers on the other hand.............

The Aussie has dropped back to about $US1.05. It is a matter of making hay while the sun shines.

A few months ago I bought a Hyundai i30 with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty the sort of things as standard equipment that not all luxury cars have for less than 19 grand.

We are still doing better than most. If you look at CNBC it is the USA and Europe that have the problems.

The greenback has only improved because of the latest government injection. Our foreign debt is nothing compared to Uncle Sam's.

if the shit hits the fan again in the us we'll be fucked as well. Gillard swan and brown keep telling us that we have the best economy in the world, which is a crock of shit. Were in alot of debt aswell. The only thing that saved up last time was the surplus left behind by the last government and Thats long gone now. Anyway, back to billy-i would really like to see him and geale headline a big card showcasing the next generation of talent. Along with tomlinson, Fleming and a few others

Echo the sentiments with regards to showcasing the next gen of fighters. Be good to see and lift the profile of boxing if good fights were made. Plus would demonstrate their is life after Mundane/Green.

Good on Dib for winning the title. Reckon he has a bit to make up for after the fight vs the Japanese guy which turned ugly( last thing boxing here needed). Seems like a nice kid.

As for the economy- who knows. When there seems to be a bunch of galahs running most countries, most of whom are greedy, egomaniaca wankers who knows what will happen. America is screwed. If any of you havent seen it i recommend a doco called The Inside Job(at DVD stores now). That is the most frightening thing i think i have ever watched. And the tools that caused the mess are still in positions of power, still running the big end business schools and still getting their big bonuses. Its shit. Amazed there isnt rioting in the states and lynch mobs. Civil War Part 2 coming?!?!?

As for here- hate to say it but as much as I loathed little Johnny I had more faith in him than Gillard and her cronies. At the end of the day, same as everywhere the poor will get poorer and the rich richer. Just seems to be the way it is. At least its not as bad here as in the states.

Stop listening to Alan Jones and look at IMF and world Bank figures. We are doing really well.

Why do comments on here always turn into personal or political attacks? At the end of the day we all going to die one day, so what does it matter where your from or what status you have?

I don't like people running this country down.

As for dying, I'd like to leave a better world for my children and grandchildren.

Well done Billy The Kid well deserved won almost every round clearly on points.. Wasn't as entertaining as Zac "The Shaker" Awad and the Junior fight but it was a good win for aussie boxing.. As for ppl thinking Junior won , and beat Zac my opinion is and i was there live most of juniors flurries were caught on Zac's tight defence they weren't landing blows.. Zac landed the harder and cleaner shots.. Well done to boath Billy & Zac..

Life isnt fair at all
Why did Hector Thompson have to peak at the same time as 'hands of stone'
Why did Tony Mundine have to fight a guy called Monzon to win the title, and
Why didnt i get to live like Ron Jeremy? Sucks to be me

Saw Dib interviewed on Main Event. He said he wanted to fight a voluntary defence, his mandatory defence and then fight Chris John to unite the IBF and WBA belts. Nice work if he can do it.
