George Chuvalo vs Henry Cooper, primes

Post by yancey »

I read today that for many years that Chuvalo, as a Canadian, was eligible for the British Empire heavyweight title held by Cooper, but that Cooper would never fight him.

What would have gone down between these two in a 12 rounder?

Cooper would have gone down and hard.

Chuvalo KO4. Henry was decent but the likes of Chuvalo were totally different class.

At that time it would of course have been a 15 rounder, but that would not have mattered.
I believe that Chuvalo would have been to rough for Cooper and have stopped him in 8-9 rounds. (Maybe on cuts)

Agree, Chuvalo would have been much too rough and physical for Cooper.

I think it would have gone around 6 rounds before the ref mercifully stopped it.

Unless Cooper pulled it all together and fought the best fight of his career, I think George would have too much for Henry down the stretch.

chuvalo had a great dig & never marked to bad & has to be the toughest of them all. he would of broke henry's heart but would of known he was in a row.
