Hopkins v Haye?
Re: Hopkins v Haye?
Not sure whats more amusing. The thought Hopkins wins this or the fact Hopkins, not only wins, he KO's / stops Haye.
Utter nonsense. Haye has the speed and would beat Hopkins to the punch and all that grabbing wont do Hopkins any good.
Hopkins has smarts, but he loses this pretty big. Nothing he can do will faze Haye. This aint no shot Jones, scared Pascal or confused Pavlik.

you guys make me laugh Hopkins isnt the number 1 cruiser weight champion fighting another cruiser weight he would be a bulked up light heavy fighting a heavyweight - if i had written something equally stupid like calzaghe would beat wlad im sure you wouldnt agree with me! or would you?mkirkhope wrote:Just like Haye smashed up the 5' 11" Mormeck straight away?kingfinn wrote:elaborate?mkirkhope wrote: This is complete nonsense.
Hopkins last ko was de la hoya in 2004, i think haye is a little bigger than a 155lb 5'10 de la hoya.
Hopkins gives 2 inches away in height an came in a 174 in his last fight - haye came in light at 211lbs in his last fight and has a ko ration of 85%. Hopkins was dropped by pascal - haye isnt going to go out and box on the back foot against a smaller man, he'll just go out and smash him up straight away. Its a complete mismatch!
Not sure what your stat about Hopkins last KO has got to do with anything. I didn't say who would win, and definately didn't say Hopkins would win by KO.
I'd give Hopkins a very good chance because Haye has such obvious flaws. Your assertion that he would be 'brutally ko'd in less than a round' is ridiculous.
hopkins wouldnt be able to rough haye up or be able to gain any respect from his punches, he would just get smashed up.

50 flush shots, what nonsense.addi wrote:hopkins knock haye out never heard so much shit, even wlad could'nt and he landed about 50 flush right hands his lip was fat as eff at the end, but he never wobbled once, hopkins not sparked anyone for years the del la hoya stoppage was a body shot.
He maybe landed 50 flush jabs, not power punches.

Haye is way too big and punches very hard.............. Hopkins would be stupid to take that fight
Re: Hopkins v Haye?
Ha ha its true as soon as a topic includes haye people just start writing any old tosh. Let me guess he was unified CW champion and 2 weight world champion but from your point of view he didnt fight anyone world class.jamesmcdonnell wrote:kingfinn wrote:you guys make me laugh Hopkins isnt the number 1 cruiser weight champion fighting another cruiser weight he would be a bulked up light heavy fighting a heavyweight - if i had written something equally stupid like calzaghe would beat wlad im sure you wouldnt agree with me! or would you?mkirkhope wrote: Just like Haye smashed up the 5' 11" Mormeck straight away?

maybe not 50 but if he caught haye plenty and he defo landed more than 50 jabs, but my point is no way hopkins stops haye.
Re: Hopkins v Haye?
Guys guys....
lets get real for a sec here Hopkins = legend of the sport, Haye = is not, no denying these facts.
However, two things are apparent, haye is too big and too powerful for Hopkins surely everyone can see that?
Hopkins is a natural phenonenom, but christ sakes guys, haye would go at him like a steam train (please don't bring up the Vlad fight...i was there), i just can't see anything but a Haye win.
he won't be scared to come forward like against Wlad and Hopkins has no punch that would trouble him at that weight, in my honest opinion.
bad fight for both fighters imo, shouldn't happen.

Re: Hopkins v Haye?
Not worth debating as it will never happen. Hopkins starts this nonsense on occasion then loses interest when it looks like becoming a reality.
Remember when he was going to meet James Toney (just after Toney beat Jirov) ?
Never happened
Remember when he was going to meet Tomasz Adamak (at Cruiser) ?
Never happened
He's a remarkable fighter Hopkins and you can't knock his achievements but he does talk a lot of cr*p at times!

Nard would miss all the lard then fatty would have countered the fuk outa his face all night. you think Nards crafty? Fatty (when in fat fighting shape') has the best defense I have ever seen in the history of the sport, he sits in the pocket whilst picking the pocket.
In fact I think that Toney stops the 'thin wasted' B'Hop with body shots late and I think Nard knew that Toney was not only more "gangsta" than him but in fact Toney was even more "old skool" and I think that's Bernie boy shat his racist panties to fight the fat phenom.

I didn't say fight, I said SMASH UP. The only arguably top level fighter he destroyed was Macaranelli. Mormeck he struggled with, having to get of the floor to win it. He was a two weight belt holder. You could argue he was the top cruiserweight, but he never really stuck around long enough to properly unify the division. He won the title from valuev, and then lost by a landslide when he faced one of the two top men in the division.kingfinn wrote:Ha ha its true as soon as a topic includes haye people just start writing any old tosh. I think Popkins is just too crafty for anyone outside of an absolute elite level fighter at his peak to actually beat up. Even with the weight disparity, I see Hopkins making Haye miss and setting traps, and doing enough to at the least survive.
Yes, he probably could't win it, but he'd probably do enough to say he hung with Haye.
My point is that Hopkins, is a grade A fighter, Haye is a physically gifted Grade C. Haye doesn't really have much of a skill set when all is said and done. I'm not saying Haye is shit, he's better than 90% of the fighter out there, but there's a world of difference between the likes of Hopkins, Jones, Toney, Mayweather, Pacquaio, and the level Haye is at.

Re: Hopkins v Haye?
I've learnt to never right B-Hop off but even I think it would be a step to far! Haye would be too big and athletic for Hopkins, Hopkins needs time these days and fight at his own pace. I'm sure Booth would make Haye control the pace and as importantly the distance not allowing Hopkins to get set or dictate. Throwing combinations, he won't land them against Hopkins all the time but at least he'd have to throw them and he'd land a couple

your argument is based on your own personal and wrong opinions rather than the facts - haye unifying the CW division is not a debatable subject its a fact.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I didn't say fight, I said SMASH UP. Another set of FACTS
1. Haye is the fastest top 10 HW
2. Haye is one of the hardest punching 10 HW's
3. Hopkins couldnt beat the best in his own division at middle weight or
LHW - JT, RJJ and Calzaghe (who moved up a division to fight him).
4. Pascal is not one of the elite fighters you mentioned, he's also the same weight class as Hopkins and put him on the canvas twice in their first fight.
5. Hopkins hasnt KO anyone above middle weight.
My personal opinion is that Hopkins couldnt beat some of the best fighters in the current CW division at this point in time of which Haye would still dominate.
Big respect to Hopkins for beating pascal and pavlik whilst this age, but he didnt beat calzaghe and his wins (if you count the draw) against pascal were tight - thats the same pascal that Froch beat by a unanimous and wide points decision.
I think some of you need to take your hopkins goggles off and realise that yes he's a legend but he's not superman or some imortal who's schooling everyone. Scrapping a win in your own divison is one thing doing it in someone elses divison is another thing.
If this debate was is hopkins p4p a better fighter or would he win if him and haye were the same size thats another matter.
Re: Hopkins v Haye?
When I look at the top 10 HWs, Haye falls almost right at the bottom in terms of power. Speed is another thing.

Hayes either hurt or KO'd every fighter he fought at HW including wlad and valuev. Theres 4 clear power punchers in the top 10 and Hayes one of them. Also re read what i actually wrote!

Which is why is said 'arguably.' He held a title, but it was a paper one, and he really didn't beat much decent opposition.McCannW14 wrote:I agree with everything you say James, except Maccarinelli wasnt a world class fighter.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I didn't say fight, I said SMASH UP.
