Is this some kind of ill-judged wind up or what?

Aaaaah Mr McNeilly,

part of me says: with all the various contact/combat sports around these days, and me being against this cotton-wool society, good on them - both consenting adults, and if bare-knuckle is going to be around we may as well try to sanction it.

The other half of me says: "oh FFS, what an atrocious, horrible, truly awful decision"

I'm leaning more and more with the latter as each day passes since first reading this news.

In the first sanctioned bareknuckle boxing match since 1889
Anyone know who actually sanctioned it?

"the most ferocious heavyweight since Jack Dempsey" will rely on picking his shots now he's bare knuckle boxing. Oh the irony.

IF it is real (and I hope it isnt)
It's offensive to me.
Classless and uncouth and anyone who likes it should be barred from this forum or simply go out and fight a bare knuckle match themselves and then go hang out with the scummy mutants that promote this lowlife freak show.

Just like UFC this to me is an example of the decline in modern culture along with the further dumbing down of the already dumb masses.

Looks like it would take off bigtime though :(

You want banning saxon for all those sh** threads you started last week

Normally I'd say PM that kind of stuff so we all don't have to hear your squabbling, in this case, prob better if you don't.

Just thought I'd point out that bare knuckle is actually less dangerous. No gloves mean blows to the head = broken hands. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there was never a single recorded fatality in the bare knuckle era.

The reasons for avoiding parts of the face "hit the side of the jaw so you don't split your hand on the teeth " yeah or wear gloves mate!! ridiculous :shame:
Though will give fury a platform when he gets spanked out the sport :D

:TU:

I think it was something like 4. Since the introduction of gloves the figure has multiplied considerably. Brain injuries increase due to the fact that many more punshes can be landed bfore the knuckles or skull are injured and the brain continues to shake inside the skull with every punch.

Some people say that the introduction of gloves was the most dangerous thing to ever happen in boxing. Their introduction was primarily to prolong fights and not to increase safety as they do the opposite.

I feel a few people posting on this topic haven't done their homework
