Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
looks like an easy night for Kel against Rafal Jackiewicz. What do you all think?

Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Not easy, but a good fight for Kell to show what he has got.
Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Bit of a let down considering talk of Malagnaggi
this guys been beat off Ted Bami , Jennings and Lauri
Brook wont get much trouble here i dont think

Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Pretty easy for Brook but a good fight none the less
Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Hmm looks like quite an easy run to the title tbh, nothing wrong with that though.
Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Good match up for Brook which he should win.
To be fair his losses to Jennings, Lauri and Bami were in 2004, has never been stopped and holds wins over Bonsu, Zaveck (Zaveck won re-match) and Rodriguez so its not as if he is a mug.
Brook makes a statement if he stops him (this goes the distance IMO)

Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
7 years ago! Jackiewicz has lost once since 2005, and it was a very close decision to the current IBF titlist, who he had beaten previously. I don't know how good Jackiewicz is, but bringing up fights that were 7 years ago seems a bit silly. Judge him for his recent bouts.Gazmac81 wrote:Bit of a let down considering talk of Malagnaggi

He's a plodder.
Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Sensible, though not great, opponent. WBA title is right one to look for first, then potentially IBF. Brook wasn't going to get a look in on Manny's WBO title despite his ranking, and the same may be said if Mayweather gets the WBC.

What's the venue like? Ponds forge?
Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
A good next step for Brook. Jackiewicz has beaten some solid names and was in most top ten lists at this time last year.

For me in this division theres no one who has the beating of kell (viv) the better the opponent the better he will become our next world champ no doubt

Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Very good match making. Kelly wins easy then gets a world title shot. Well done Eddie

Anyone else, Capt? Any neat-boxing, North West-inhabiting, rematch-seeking boxers you can think of?Captain Hook wrote:Apart from about seven guys......Mayweather, Pacquiao, Berto etcwesley05 wrote:For me in this division theres no one who has the beating of kell (viv) the better the opponent the better he will become our next world champ no doubt![]()

Realistically, where do you place Brook in the world rankings? 7/8/9 or do you reckon he's the best at the weight?danfoster wrote:Anyone else, Capt? Do you still have Herol Graham at number one and Jarvis Cocker at number two?
:)
Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
To be honest mate, I think Jarvis' recent inactivity would mean i'd have to have him just sliding out the top 10.Captain Hook wrote:Realistically, where do you place Brook in the world rankings? 7/8/9 or do you reckon he's the best at the weight?danfoster wrote:Anyone else, Capt? On a serious note, clearly Mayweather and Pacman are the best in the division. Now, if i just take a look at The Ring's Top 10 ... (Kell is at number nine)
Right, out of that lot, of those above him in the rankings, i'd back Kell to beat Jackiewicz, Zaveck, Senchenko and Jones right away. However, I suspect that Jackiewicz is probably the weakest of those guys (even though he is Ring's #6 in world) and I'm glad Kell is boxing him first. He needs a stepping stone fight before taking on the rest.
After one or two more fights AT THIS HIGH LEVEL, i think he's got a great chance against either Ortiz or Berto. However, i don't think he'd be ready to jump in class to their level yet - he just doesn't have the experience.
In short, other than the Big Two, I give Kell every chance of beating all the rest IN DUE COURSE, WHEN HE HAS A LITTLE MORE EXPERIENCE. He learned so much from the Ndou fight and hopefully the Jackiewicz fight will be similarly beneficial.
As for the Amir debate, i think that's a great fight and one that would be fantastic for British boxing. I didn't see the Judah fight and apparently Amir looked great in that fight. But i can definitely say that before that fight, i would have put my house on Kell to KO him and to be honest, i think i still would. Then again, I thought Degale would absoilutely take the piss out of Groves and that Haye would chin Wlad in the first six rounds! So what do i know?
Re: Kell Brook - WBA title eliminator
Interesting that this fight is seen as 'excellent matchmaking' and thoughts are 'well done Eddie'.
Whilst I agree with this it is interesting to speculate what the reaction would have been if FW had made this fight??

Jackiewicz is tough, has some good recent wins, has never been stopped and is highly ranked. Just the sort of fight Kell Brook needs. I mean come one, the guy has beaten the dangerous Jackson Bonsu, current IBF champ Jan Zaveck and Delvin Rodriguez in his last eight fights! He's a solid, proven contender.

Very reasonable fight with guy ranked 6 by the ring. Like to see Kell fight for WBA title next can see a fight with Matthew Hatton down the line.
