Your post is a bit confusing at the end but I've read that Tunney was a very good technical boxer even though he was down for like 15 seconds in the 2nd Dempsey fight

What does this fighter have to do with boxing's "current scene"???

ask yourself that, and then quit wasting our time.......

ok im so confused its not even funny. all i have to say about tunny is he exposes what dempseys flaws were and even though dempsey was aged, he could have given dempsey trouble in his prime. tunny was a master boxer who held titles at light H and heavbyweight. his only loss was when he took a terrible beating from harry greb. tunny came back to beat greb.

the thing is, he defended the title only twice. he beat dempsey twice, beat tom heeney, than retired????? he could have enhanced his reputation by taking on jack sharkey, or max schmelling. or larry gains.

BB is right that Tunney is a bit of an enigma as a heavy for us looking back but he has a great record. he looks very much a modern boxer in the films of the Dempsey fight.

he gets overlooked a lot these days but was always considered one of the greats in the past. His movement, conditioning and great skills would give anyone a fight.
