Frampton-Martinez
Frampton-Martinez
This looks an excellent card in Belfast with McCloskey-Prescott and Frampton-Martinez. Two pick em fights on paper.
Does anybody think Frampton will lose to Martinez? It is a huge step up in class for him, but he's a slight 9/10 favourite with the bookies compared to the evens available on Martinez.
Boxrec no.102 in the world at Super Bantam (and 5th in the UK) takes on the Boxrec no.10 in the world for the European title.
It's not the sort of match up I'd expect the likes of Warren to make for a young fighter like Frampton. Do people on here think he should be able to deal with Martinez, or is this more a case of Eddie Hearn trying to make competitive fights for the fans at the expense of his fighters?
Clearly McCloskey had to fight somebody like Prescott if he wants to prove he is capable of stepping up to world level (not that Prescott is world level, but at least has a reputation), but Barker is a 12/1 shot against Martinez and this looks a potentially dangerous fight for Frampton so early in his career.

Re: Frampton-Martinez
You're right though, John. This is a great card with two top fights on it.
Re: Frampton-Martinez
Good card this one, not sure about Martinez/Frampton but I fancy McCloskey big style against the one dimensional Prescott, would not even be surprised to see Dudey get a stoppage.
Have suitably backed him at 8/11 and also 4/6 barring a haymaker can't have him losing (famous last words)

Re: Frampton-Martinez
Judging by his last performance (against Turley) I'm not sure he's quite ready for this step up, Kiko is bordering world class and will have so many old pro tricks that'll throw Frampton off. Plus he's as strong as an ox and hits like a Heavyweight!! Brave matchmaking hope it pays off

It's brave matchmaking indeed. I think too early for him.
Re: Frampton-Martinez
I agree about Frampton, he was given trouble in his last fight against a guy who cant punch, this is a huge step up in class. Martinez isnt scared of traveling places and fought Ndlovu for the IBF in South Africa, and went the distance. The guy is proven at European level and looked good in winning the belt again v Booth. Even money on him wont be available come fight night in my opinion.
Prescott v McCloskey is very interesting, both guys arent good enough to win a world title in my opinion because there's so many better guys at the weight, but I do give Prescott a slight advantage, could have a bit more about him at 140.

They weren't bringing anyone over to beat Dunne either, and Dunne was a far more valuable commodity at that time than Brick Fists is now.PFitz08 wrote:Wise up! They're not bringing anyone over to beat Carlos

Re: Frampton-Martinez
Going on Frampton's last performance, you have to favour Martinez to do a number on Frampton
Re: Frampton-Martinez
Is the Frampton/Martinez fight definately on. The Ebu website has all the proposed title fights up and they just have the Super-Bantam division with Martinez as champ and Munroe as mandatory with a deadline of October this year for agreement.
If Munroe is mandatory I am surprised Hatton has not got him the fight, unless of course they have a world title lined up for Munroe and have bypassed the EBU fight.
To be fair the EBU are normally quick at updating fights or have been when I have checked.
Anyone confirm if the Frampton fight is definately on.
