Pro Boxers In The Olympics?
Re: Pro Boxers In The Olympics?
What effect would this have on the ams?
Re: Pro Boxers In The Olympics?
It's a very good question - really surprised this hasn't stirred up more of a debate. I can't say I'm in favour and can't see how it would work particularly well in practice.... the lack of prize money would mean you'd never get the top pros, even with the carrot of lucrative sponsorship deals if they win a medal.jBacca wrote:What effect would this have on the ams?

It's only going to be "pros" that affliate themselves with AIBA.

I am not sure what the point of this is, we have guys travelling the world and working their assess off in the ams and have loads of qualifying events to take part in and only 1 person from each country can enter a weight. I think we keep it as it is, it has worked well form many years and makes a lot of legendary pro's as well.
