Records that won't be beat.

Post by flatnoseflynn »

Which boxing records do you think will never be beaten ?........I think Nikolai Valuev at over 7-foot, and 300 pound plus! will never be beat as the biggest ever heavy weight champion. And Marciano's 49-0 record is gonna be tough to beat in this day and age. What others ?

We'll never see another boxer as overrated on BoxRec as Sonny Liston.

Always liked Sonny, but he is indeed overrated here.

What about that Welsh fella? The one that started fighting when he was 10 or something. That one should stay where it is too.
Just double checked. He was 9 years old. :o

Actually I disagree. These days it's easy enough to get a 25-0 or 30-0 record (provided you are a good boxer) by just beating club fighters and journeyman.

Ike Ibeauchi did it not so long a go, and Floyd Mayweather currently has an undefeated record...

I think Marciano's record will eventually be beat.

Holmes came within a fight of doing it.
Brian Neilsen too came close without actually fighting anyone.
I suspect this one might go, I think it is more likely in these times with boxing politics and numerous belts to go than ever

Yes sir, I know that. I wasn't referring to Ike's record numerically. I was simply using it as a blueprint example of how far a fighter can get while fighting basically no one worthy of note.

Perhaps I should have made myself clearer, I apologise.

This record is a myth.

The youngest champ ever is Patterson, aged 20.

It will be a long time before Hopkins' new record as oldest linear champion in history is broken. Hell, I'm surprised Foreman's holding of the record didn't last longer (1994-2011). Foreman still holds the record for being oldest man to hold the linear championship, though (48, 1997), & that may stay forever. I doubt Hopkins will be Light-Heavy champ three years from now.

Excuse me, Patterson was 21.

Nevertheless, that's the record. Tyson was 22 when he won the championship. The record is with Patterson. I'm honestly sick of hearing that Tyson BS.

Floyd Mayweather will be 67 by the time he gets to 50-0, assuming he does get to that landmark. :P

Was he that young? That is nearly a dead cert never to be beaten, amazing feat at that age considering who he was fighting and the fifteen round distance.

Rocky Marciano's record has lasted nearly 60 years so very difficult to beat IMO especially the heavyweights Larry Holmes came very close but I don't think he would of retired after beating Marciano's record anyway looking on at what he eventually did with his career?

Agreed, just turning pro at 18! is young so being a champion at 17 years old is incredible really :TU:

I bet Peter Buckley had a quite few in a year.
