Challenger Roman "Made in Hell" Karmazin won the IBF jr middleweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Kassim Ouma Thursday night at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Karmazin (34-1, 21 KOs) dominated the early rounds, flooring Ouma twice in round three. First with a left hook to the body, then by a combination to the head. Ouma started to pick up the pace in round five and as the fight progressed and the rounds were much closer. In the end, Karmazin came away with a 118-108, 116-110, 117-111.

i do have to say that i did point out the Ouma was a slow starter and Karmazan would come out fast, looks like thats what happened.....smug bloke ain't i

Tempted to gloat meself, topper, but I never actually picked a winner for the fight so have no right to. Looks like tonyevs over on the prediction thread was the one who nailed it best.

I see GBP seem to be going into damage control with a flu story *cough* Harrison - Medina *cough*. Maybe it's true... putting him (Ouma) in an immediate rematch will tell if the fingerprints match...

Kind of a shame considering all the work GBP did for him: getting the hometown ref and securing the "p4p" spot with the child soldier stories. Unfortunately he was never gonna be a long reigning champ (posted to this effect after the Jantuah win). I saw him with 3 defences, but looks like he only got to two. :(

There's still decent money matches for him at 154lb as long as he keeps the hard training up.

'Made In Hell': a cool (sic) nickname, and maybe chillingly (again, sic) accurate given where he's from.

One of my fave's: John 'The Bull's Head Terror' Flood.

Unfortunatly i still went for Ouma in the prediction league to win on points, so no bonus for me.

One other thing is, and i'm not 100% sure , so maybe someone will correct me, i'm thinking that no Ugandan has ever defended a world title.

Wasn't Boza Edwards from Uganda? He lost quite a few though... not sure really.

In all honesty I may well have went for Ouma here too (by points). The whole reason I never picked a winner for the fight is simply because I hadn't seen enough of Karmazin to be confident in him doing the job. The only thing I was certain of was that Ouma was going to trip up soon. Was going to make a post to this effect in the prediction thread, but the carpal tunnel syndrome from painting the truth about Jermain Taylor has already done my hands in.

and to think some people really thought Ouma was better than Wright and DLH. I thought Ouma would win this fight, but never put him near that bracket.

Ayub Kalule was Ugandan. He defended the 154 title.

Thought it was a pick-em fight, but went purely on Ouma's activity and how he's been improving with every fight – Karmazin's always been a quality fighter though. Well done to him.

Well done to Karmazin. I thought he'd get out-worked all night but he used his size well and clearly had far superior preparation.

Ouma was shockingly bad from the off. Very, very disappointed.

I think Ouma was over hyped but saying that there appeared to be something seriosuly wrong from the off, for a guy who likes to throw a lot of shots he looked very timid and never worked out Karmazin's style. I saw this as a genuine 50/50 fight and i slightly edged towards Ouma on the predictions league but i was surprised with the way Karmazin dominated the fight rather than the fact he actually won it. No wonder he is so avoided, where next for both men? i would like to see Karmazin in a unification with Travis Simms, i think that would be a good fight.

Yeah, in it's purest adverb form it works. But I can see what you mean and actually agree to an extent - it was devious use and it's easily misleading for most.

Simms would be a good fight, I think Karmazin - if he comes in as sharp as that - could beat him handily. Simms gets timid when he feels he hasn't got the upper hand in there, Ouma was made timid by about 3 body shots in the first round. Karmazin may well blow Simms away.

Yes, i made the point on another thread that Karmazin's body work helped break Ouma down, no wonder Ouma was timid when he realised everytime he made a mistake he was getting walloped with that left to the body.
