I'v been offered 10k off the cuff for mine as its the only one that has been won by anyone from salford, so can see how some1 would pay 15-20k on e-bay bidding. :TU:

People have their reasons for selling them i'm sure.

Personally, I'd love a fighter to keep it in the family, handed down through the generations over the years to the eldest son.

imo if a Fan was buying it the better the Fighter the More the Belt will make, the History behind it etc, so if you'd get more in acution then that.. Not blowing you Trumpet or anything but you weren't Bad :box:

It was up to £15.100 with 2 Days to Go, Now its been taken off... If it was mine and the Acution was going that good and with Ebay people dont start bidding till the last Minutes then there's No way in the world i would of done a Buy It Now.. Makes me think it was'nt Sold and who ever owned it took it off...

My thinking is that this belt was never fought for but bought at auction or from the manufactuers. Ricky Hatton bought one direct as he never won one outright.

Randy Turpins went for £25k but his was solid gold and porceline. The new ones are gold plated and enamel.
You can have the new ones made for £3k

The old ones are genuine antiques and the best boxing belts ever.

I think the whole thing was a bit dodgey as I bidded 15k on it then the guy messaged me saying someone was going to give him 15k and meet him Friday, then when I said I wasn't going to bid anymore he replied "he has cancelled his bid . So if u make a good offer we can see . What you looking to offer ".....

I'd say thats a wise call, looks to be inflated false bid by the someone to get more out of the belt than its worth.

Did he sell it or does he have a connection with the pub i dont know
After asking you all those years ago ,i finally found the pub last night (after half hearty looking ) its Robertson bar on Rose St, next to the Sainsburys. didn't ask for the connection, but i did see lots of welsh and other rugby tops so the owner might have a welsh connection (as Curvis was welsh)

Clinton Mckenzie's belt was up for sale on EBay. Started at 18000 I think...Relisted at 15000 still didn't sale.
I asked Clinton via Facebook, if it was his...And he said it was.

Jock Mcavoy's is owned by Jack Trickett...Apparently...I wouldn't mind buying that one.

On the subject of old Belts my old boss was Jack Kid Bergs nephew and had the world title he won on the fire place. I bet that would have been worth a few shillings.
