The tournament opened yesterday with two sessions.
At open level many of the bigger names are taking a rest but competing are Carlos Suarez and Thomas Huitt-Johnson at 114 Pedro Duran and Edgar Javalero at 132 Alex Martin and Nathan Ridings at 152 Tony Mack at 178 Brian Houston Jake Sahlaney Hasim Rahman jr and Canadian number one Samir-El Mais at heavyweight and Cam Thompson and Ed Latimore at super heavy
Womens open section is also lightly subscribed but boasts world champion Andrecia Wasson competing at 165 in perhaps her first tournament at the Olympic weight.Others competing include Mandy Bujold at 112 Liz Leddy and Stephanie Walker at 132 Lisa Hart and Natalie Goulet at 106 and Susan Haas,

Surprised at some of the winners. Don't know a lot of them, know Kendo and Edgar, and of course A. Martin and Cam. Kind of surprised at the names who were bounced early, Suarez and Skinny at 114, A TAY 108, Mack at 178, Rock Junior and Seth Benedict at 201, Foley at 123 and Pedro Duran at 132. Seems that there was some talent there.
