YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING
The Raiders come down here thirty years ago and tease us with our first Super Bowl Championship.
Then the bastids turn Hollywood and fall apart. I was glad when Al Davis went back to Oakland.
The Rams? I was happy Georgia F. did L.A. a favor and moved to St. Louis. We were happy to see them go.
Let's face it, we know the 49'ers and Raiders will not bring a Super Bowl to the Golden State, that's just a memory.
San Diego? Forget about it. I like San Diego teams and the city itself about as much as Mel Epstein liked The Beatles.
The Jets have a "Southern" California QB (USC no less) playing for a team with solid NY fans.
The combination of the two (I have a lot of NY buddies here in LA) works well for me.
Sanchez is a Chicano, no prima donna. Two years NFL experience and both years led the team to division finals.
This year, maybe a Super Bowl? Win or lose, the Jets are my team.
I really don't care if LA gets an NFL team or not. If they bring some Mid West team here I'll never attend a game.
The L.A. Browns?![]()
Maybe if California had a few major sports franchises (besides the Lakers) that were capable of winning on a regular basis, the fans here will get into the games and not feel a need to create violence at our stadiums. What happened in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium recently, and at the Raiders-49'ers game this weekend, is unacceptable.
The last Pop Warner Football team I played on before beginning my boxing career was the Garden Grove Jets, 1964.
I like the name, I like the team, and I like their city & fans. In L.A. sports fans won't tolerate a loser for very long.
LA fans are not loyal to losers. That has been proven beyond question, we'll drop a loser in a hert beat.

In the Mid West they don't have the distractions they have here in L.A.
In St. Louis they are a big fish in a small bowl. In L.A. they are just one of many things to choose from, and we don't choose to support a loser.

So what's with the Clippers, you ask? Well, you can get tickets to Clippers games, try to get them for Laker games.
The Dodgers are one of the greatest sports franchises ever. We love them in L.A. and they have brought us a number of World Championships.
However, when they don't perform, we don't pay attention to them. Lately, the stadium has been like a ghost town when the Dodgers play.
We don't want to lose the Dodgers, but they know we won't buy tickets to watch anything less than a title contender.
When they win, the stands are packed.
The Clippers? They couldn't draw a crowd here if they won an NBA title (which they never will).
Well, $$$ for one thing. They bring a lot of money to the St. Louis economy.Rick Farris wrote:And by the way, what have the Rams done for you guys lately? We don't look backwards in L.A. It's all about today.

But I'm not the one with the "what have you done for me lately" philosophy. Loyalty is a midwestern trait, I guess.

As you pointed out, it's OK to lose in Mid West. Which is good, because you haven't much choice.
Since we must dig deep into the archives to find something exciting about St. Louis sports, let's not forget that Henry Armstrong hailed from St. Louis.raylawpc wrote:Hmmmmm . . . let's see:Rick Farris wrote:When it comes to sports teams, there is no loyalty in Los Angeles for losers.raylawpc wrote: Well, $$$ for one thing. The Cardinals have won 10 world series. Not sure how many the Dodgers have won, but it's less than 10. We last won a world series in 2006. It's been at least 20 years since the Dodgers won one. Hmmm . . . I just checked the MLB standings: Cardinals are second in the NL Central with a 67-60 record, but the Dodgers are last in the NL West with a 57-69 record . . . Hmmm . . . Cardinals are 3-1 over LA this year.
Let's see, the Rams went to the Super Bowl twice for St. Louis; didn't ever make it for LA . . .

He was known as Melody Jackson back then.
Once he came west, he found fame and fortune in Los Angeles.
This is where he chose to live and die.
The LOS ANGELES Dodgers have existed since the late 50's. In the years since, who has won more World Series?
I don't know the answer, enlighten me?
And you might also tell me who produces more world class athletes over all, Southern Cal, or the entire state of Mo.?
