Bellew doesn't deserve a fight with Cleverly.

I would like to see Cleverly fight world class opposition rather than domestic class.

Yeah - Heard this as well :TU: - Liverpool Echo ran a story this morning saying it was close to being finalised!
'Id rather see Bellew have a couple more fights before taking on Clev as i honestly think he's not ready yet. If he can get some more experience and recapture that explosive early form then it could be a good match. But if he boxes Clev in Oct then sorry Tony, no disprespect, but i think Clev stops you mid-rounds.

Whatever anyone thinks though, this IS a fight that will sell and i can well understand why Dean and the boys would like to make it :TU:

I'm a big fan of Bomber and would also like to see him have a couple more fights before facing Clev.

Tony got slated by a few for his 'negative' performance in his last fight but personally I was made up he could keep his cool, box off the back foot and not go for the big shot; as opposed to fighting completely the opposite against Ajisafe and Mckenzie first time round.

Another fight or two could allow Tony to find the right balance between boxing and brawling, and give the lad confidence if plan A doesn't work against Clev as we've seen Tony lose his head before.

I'm hoping we get to see a war between Bomber and Clev as it's Tony's best chance of winning, but even if he does lose it's not the end of the world as I truly believe his best weight is cruiser, which is surely where he'd head.

Scousers and Taffs together - Liverpool will be rocking.

We're used to being in the minority at these shows when supporting Cleverly and this'll be no different! I can already hear the 'sheep, sheep, sheep shaggers' chant that will inevitably be directed at us!! :OhYes: :OhYes:

I guess the outcome of this fight will determine exactly where Bellew goes in terms of career direction but he certainly won't be trying to make up the numbers when/if the fight with Cleverly comes off.
Stop shagging sheep then. :OhYes:

Both fighters will be in peak condition. This is the fight they both want. Will be electric.

I won't believe it's happening until I'm stood looking right at him, contracts signed and then I'll believe it's on!

I told people I wanted this and they think I'm nuts! I'll show people who's really nuts if it goes ahead ;-)

Tony Bellew certainly likes to talk a good fight, but from what I have seen from his last 3 fights one has to wonder were the nickname (Bomber) comes in? Knocked down by Ajasafe and McKenzie and then got up to bore the pants off of us until the final bell(hardly convincing championship material) Why all the nonsense on stage with Cleverly, myself I would have kept my mouth shut and thought how lucky I was being offered the fight.
Nathan Cleverly has got your number and if and when it ever comes off we shall :oo all see that.
Finally, I am surprised with the great John Conteh raving so much about Bellew,JC I thought you had better judgement this fella will not make the grade and will certainly not achieve what you did in your own career :oo

Good luck Tony mate. Just keep focused and keep doing what you did in your last fight.

Forget pleasing the crowd, this game is about racking up victories.

But Bomber got the win in the McKenzie rematch and that is all that matters, he got the win kept his Commonwealth title added it to the British title and now he is angling for bigger things yes he got dropped in the first fight twice against McKenzie but he got up pulled himself together and stopped him later in the fight, as for the Ajasafe fight he got himself back on his feet cleared his head made the necessary adjustments to the fight plan and got the win and you cannot ask him to do anything more.

Hope the training is going well for whomever you are fighting next Bomber and we look forward to seeing you in the ring soon.

 Got off the floor to thrill everyone, who are you kidding apart from yourself? sent everyone to sleep more like it.
You are not as good as you think you are, but time will tell us that.
You had a very friendly helpful referee for the first McKenzie contest, that fight should never have been stopped when it was, I was ringside that night and that was the view of everyone ringside, McKenzie was up straight, arms up and walked forward when asked by the ref only for it to be strangely waved off, am not saying Ovill would have won just saying he deserved to carry on, shocking judgement by the referee :shame:

If the ref didn't stop the fight when he did that night Ovil would of been KOd BIG. Bellew did very well coming back from that second knock down alot of guys would of been asleep.

You simply cant substantiate that mate - we'll simply never know.

But what we do know for certain is that Bomber was in far more trouble after the 2nd knockdown then McKenzie was when the fight was stopped. McKenzie simply wasnt given the same opportunity to come back into the fight that Bomber was afforded by the Referee.

People forget! I took the fight to him after being knocked down! Also he didn't throw ANY punches after being knocked down! I think it was an early stoppage and that's why I asked for the rematch but make no mistake! I was robbed of a KO that night! I pressed after being knocked down and he didnt!!

Hang on mate, you only threw one punch yourself from the time McKenzie got up to the time the Referee stopped the fight. The Referee gave McKenzie approximately 1 second's worth of action before he stopped the fight.

McKenzie didnt get the chance to fight back.

i think anyone who knows the game, knows that recovering from an early knockdown or a blow to the cobblers takes the wind out your sails late on & when bellew was landing flush right handers on ovil he was taking them very well & i thought how can he take them :!: ...has bellew's power been drained from the heavy knockdown's, then boom a peach of a left hook & ovil got slammed heavy on his back & he rose & wasnt visibly gone but he was really hurt & suffering late knockdowns is a sighn the heat in the kitchen is too great :!:history has proven this.
early knockdowns & getting caught cold is normally due to a fighter not being warm & too tense as arnie know's to well :DDD ;;-)

i know a few refs & have seen & known many of fighters who have protested come & thank them after or there corner apologise after realising in the changing room that there fighter didnt know they had even fought :!: so until you've been in there or expierianced this by being with a fighter you have no argument & you will never win a talking match with the scouse barrack o'bomber aka fATjoe :DD

hope this fukin long post has educated you peter pan :DD

bellew got dumped on his ar$e heavy twice & was still ahead???

they have since done 12rds & ovil won nil :!:

Mate, please get a grip. The various issues youre talking about have nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that McKenzie dropped Bomber very heavily and Bomber was allowed to continue. Yet when McKenzie was dropped heavily by Bomber, the Refereee decided to give McKenzie one second of action in which to respond. It simply wasnt proportionate - eg it was a premature stoppage. That doesnt mean McKenzie is better than Bomber, because we all know he isnt.

The second fight has nothing to do with anything ive been talking about. So why you choose to bring that into the discussion leads me to be utterly perplexed and wondering if you actually know what youre even talking about!

Bomber said it himself that he thought the stoppage of McKenzie was premature. Which is what my point was. Im sensing that your comments are made subjectively and that you have some sort of association with Bomber. Am I wrong?

get a grip??

what qualifies you??

allowed to continue, he had a barny with the ref & was abit gone but thought back & hadnt really taken punishment just badly bingo'd :!:

have you ever boxed?? you seem like you have spent too much time on fight night & watching rocky :!:

i dont know bomber but we could be related :o

also you've just said we know who is better & knowbody is intrested in a third fight so why put the victor down???

people should respect tony more, im not saying dont criticise by any means, but the lad is polite & people post like he's some sort of prik. you have to remember ovil joined the peter oboh association after prize fighter & there was arguement after the first fight that ovil could continue & it's now been put to rest so i dont really see the point in your rudeness or arguement on a novice pro.

Your post honestly doesnt warrant a reply due to your widely inaccurate and sweeping statements, not to mention your fabrication of comments that you allege I have made. For the record this is a discussion forum and youd do well to remember that in future and not attempt to bully people from their opinions.

Please point out to me where I have been rude to Bomber? I havent been rude to Bomber nor have I "put the victor down". I remarked that Ovil McKenzie was prematurely stopped and dared to disagree with Bomber's observation of the fight stoppage. If youre unable to deal with that my friend, then may I suggest you retire from the forum.

Please also point out to me where Ive said that "knowbody is intrested in a third fight" between the pair? For the record, I havent even mentioned a third fight between the two!

Yes, i have boxed. But even if i hadnt, Im sure I would still be able to have an opinion as to whether I thought a boxing match was prematurely stopped or not.
