Tyson Fury Vs Bermane Stiverne

Tyson Fury is the new Commonwealth champion. Bermane Stiverne of Laval, Quebec Canada is a heavyweight contender with an international profile and an impressive record. This would be a great fight, and I see Stiverne doing to Fury what he did to Austin, only quicker.

Getting knocked out by Demetrice King is a bit of a shocker though. I saw King earlier this year against a very faded David Tua he got outjabbed and outworked and lost every round. Doesn't bode well. Fury by points.

His lone loss came in a controversial stoppage against Demetrice King at Harbor Yard Arena in Bridgeport, Conn., on July 7, 2007.

Stiverne had scored an astonishing nine first-round knockouts in 12 fights going into the match with King. In those 12 fights, he had only tallied 17 rounds. Stiverne started to hear some voices that wanted to see him ply his craft for more rounds.

When the bell rang in the King fight, Stiverne decided to slow his attack and spent more time feeling out his opponent. Unfamiliar in his new role, Stiverne kept King around into round four where his opponent became more courageous and started throwing more punches. The match began to more resemble a sparring session than the normal early destruction by Stiverne.

The only problem was referee John Callas, from West Hartford, Conn., was not familiar with Stiverne or his game plan. Callas felt Stiverne was in trouble and inexplicably stopped the fight while Stiverne was landing a stiff jab.

“I was never hurt,” a furious Stiverne said after the early stoppage. “I can’t believe the referee stopped the fight.

“King and I were talking to one another during the final exchanges saying, ‘hit harder, hit harder.’ Watch the tape of the fight. The referee stopped the fight while I was landing a jab.

Not sure how biased that account is, but it sounds as though the King loss wasn't all that bad.

If you think Fury wins what you been drinking. Fury does not hit hard, also Stiverne ranked about no 2 by WBC cnat't see this fight happening.

Actually I shouldn't have said Fury points win as I've never even seen this stiverne guy. I was purely going by his loss to Demetrice King. I'll see what I can find on him.

He knocked out Austin and Manswell in last two fights.

Stiverne was a good amateur as well, he stopped David Price with a big right hand shot.

No way Hennessy risks his only headline act again Stiverne IMO. However, Stiverne is far from unbeatable. He looked pretty open in his fight with Austin.

I would actually favour Fury over Stiverne, Fury has a good chin, good heart and half decker skills. All stiverne has is a punch, technically Fury is better than him but his defence may let him down

I don't often disagree with you Alex but here I am and strongly! Stiverne can be a bit plodding for sure but Fury's technique can be terrible! Arm punches, cuffing shots, feet squared up. I just wish he would settle and stay with a good trainer. If he had half decent punching technique he would have had a fat Del Boy out of there.

I've followed Stiverne's career for the past few years and for me he is probably the hardest hitting Heavyweight at the moment in terms of one punch power. Having said that i'd expect Fury to outbox him from range for a fairly easy 12 round decision but of cause at any moment there could be the chance that Bermane connects with a bomb and ends the fight instantly.

Stiverne is a plodding slugger, good power but lazy and sooo slow.

Fury is a busy, arm puncher, little power and he is big.

So I see Fury just slapping him around for a decision win, somewhat similiar to the manner of his victory over Chisora.

None of these 2 are going to set the world alight.

Stiverne stopping Austin is a superb result, and for that victory alone he starts as a strong favourite for me. He has suffered a poor loss to DK but he has come back strong since and looks to have superb power in the division. Definitely has flaws to his game but was a very decent amateur and is certainly no mug abillity wise.

The Chisora win was a good one for Tyson, but let's face facts its diminished by Chisora's overall physical state. By no mean Tyson's fault and he did what was required but from what i saw that night a fit Chisora could very easily take the belts that night.

Bermane would crash Fury in my opinion, I believe that bermane can get better then what he is at the moment. Ive been following stiverne for the pass 2 years, he's more athletic and have a lot more ability then Fury. Tyson is just tall he's the easy version of the klitchkos and can't push, dose anybody think fury would of been able to beat a chisora in shape?? "Never" but he still came out and beat a out out shape chisora.

Take one sec and look at guys like Hayes that can only win fight win his mouth, it was suppose to be one of the greatest fight in boxing today but... It was terrible it Hurt boxing instant, that's why we need guys like stiverne and hope he can only get better.


Boxing needs excitement and K.0 and stiverne is the man that can deliver that imagine if he improve is boxing skills, that would be great for him,the funs and boxing.

Stivern would def have problems with the height but i think he'd land and has enough power to ko Fury inside 5
