Plus the promoter has more control over the purse money than if a fight were put out to bids or if he maybe wanted a big name opponent from another stable. Borges has written about that re Bob Arum's recent habit of matching his own fighters against each other in the latest BM.

Eddie seemed to want all the rights but backed out totally when he realised it was going to cost a lot to buy the overseas from GBP - that's the impression he gave me, anyway. But FWP is noted for keeping his big names fighting in Britain so maybe the overseas rights isn't such an issue to him. I don't know.

Sounds about right, they all ( Groves, Booth and Warren ) decided they just had to take what was left on the table, even though not the ideal situation for anyone.
Frank wont be worried too much about WW rights for Groves - seems a fairly long shot he'll ever be big enough to be a cross over star ( in US ) so maybe the less experienced Eddie missed a trick there. ( though no doubt Barry Hearn is advising him too)

Do you think Sky might be a stumbling block with the GBP thing more so than Hearn wanting 100% of the rights? I'm not sure how Sky would feel to a fighter whose US fights will be possibly screened on Primetime.
Maybe it aint such a bigger deal for FWP for his US fights not to be shown on Sky.
US fights?? What you mean when he's 37 years old and a 45-0 WBO champion. US fights might have been important in the 90's but these days its not really something certain promoters look at.
