K2 will still dominate in a years time, Povetkin has ducked them already claiming he isn’t ready!!

Everybody including myself thought Wlad would KO Haye, he didn’t. I would fancy Haye to stop Povetkin.
Not a chance IMHO. Povetkin would take Haye out. I'm a Haye fan BTW, but Povetkin is in a different league.
Based on what? povetkins looked poor for the last couple of years. People seem to be rating povetkins greatness on word of mouth. Its a tough fight but at this point in time i couldnt tell you how good povetkin actually is, or whether haye is capable of fighting properly/agressively at HW.

Haye put Barrett down 5 times and stopped him, he put Ruiz down first round and shelled his face until his corner threw the towel in. He'd do the same to Chagaev so not sure what you mean about fighting properly, Valuev and Kiltchsko have been far bigger men tactics surely change accordingly to such a challenge and for Klitchsko they didn't work but he didn't do as badly as some of the previous Klit victims.Haye's never going to be a Holyfield he doesn't have the chin and his style is completely different but give the man some credit. As for Povetkin the couple of fights I've seem him in Haye would beat him too I may be missing something and will investigate previous fights later

He also rocked Valuev, and made Wlad know he was in a fight. Wlad even commented himself in the post fight presser that he took punishment in that fight.

Adamek is waiting to fight Klitschko. If he loses and Povetkin beats Chagaev, then Povetkin will want a Klitschko too. That's where the big money is. He won't want to risk it on a fight with Haye. If Haye is seriously coming back, he needs a good opponent and a decisive win to get himself back into the big picture for another shot at a Klitschko. Who's out there?

Adamek loses to Klitschko, he probably retires. If he pulls off a win in Poland, the Klitschko-headed monster will demand a rematch. So that leaves him out.

Povetkin ain't interested.

Robert Helenius might be interested, if the money is right. He's the EBU champion now. A respected title that would attract the European/British networks. Helenius has seen Haye lose to Klitschko and likely fancies his chances at beating the smaller man. This would be a good match-up, if Helenius' people want to risk it.

On the other hand, Haye could wait for the winner of the up-coming Eddie Chambers-Tony Thompson fight. A decisive win over the winner of that one, especially if it took place in Vegas on big TV would be a terrific buildup in America. Haye could leverage that win to pressure one of the Klitschkos to fight him.

Is Haye serious about retiring? If not, he's got to get himself a high-profile victory to propel him back into the limelight. A knockout of Helenius or one of the top 2 American contenders would make him a major drawing card again.

Well this is where we will disagree, the fighting as the smaller man tactic clearly doesnt work as well as going out to hurt the larger man tactic. If haye had turned the heat up on valuev earlier on in the fight its likely he would have got the stoppage thats hindsight, he didnt know he could hurt valuev.

When haye finally decided to try and put it on wlad (in the final round) he hurt wlad.

Im a massive haye fan as most posters on here know, but not doing as bad as wlads previous opponents but loosing a very large UD deosnt make you champion of the world.

ruiz and barrett werent the top dogs in the division and he fought properly in those fights.

Chagaev is completely shot and is seriously out of shape now who cares if haye can beat him - Hayes great at fighting guys his own size. He is certainly capable of beating povetkin (or possibly even the klits) if he can fight like he did at cruiser weight, but povetkins a bigger bloke if haye can only pot shot and fight on the backfoot against bigger fighters he may as well retire.

As to fighting properly:
Properly = trying to hurt your opponent
Not properly = throwing 5 off target pot shots a round whilst running away from your opponent

as far as im aware haye said he wasnt sure he was retiring after the fight, not that he wasnt retiring.

I will be amazed if he carries on. I think he will be happy with his lot.

Lots of fighters trash talk and lots do it worse than he does and lots will do it in the future, so I couldn't care less about that.

I think he acknowledges that that was his best effort, toe issue or not, and can accept he wont beat either Wlad or Vitali, Against anyone else, I would give him a hell of a chance but his ego will not want to continue knowing he can't beat the 'best', so I think he will draw a line under it.

Could be wrong, of course, but not sure he would allow himself to fight on, knowing that.

Sure Dave didn't do enough work against Wlad he averaged 25 punches a round, I suppose he was wary of hitting thin air and getting countered...but I wouldn't say that was an incorrect way of fighting it just wasn't enough so lost. He definitely tried to 'hurt' his opponent.

As for Chagaev, Haye beating him is relevant because there's a chance he could be WBA champ which would be a perfect way to get a title for Haye

Haye landed less than 75 punches in the whole fight. If thats not the incorrect way to fight i dont know what is. Haye did great at slipping the jab but didnt follow up with any of the attacks there was no second phase, wlad was open on numerous occassions but haye let him off the hook time and time again.

Chagaev is not relevant because even in the remote possibility he has managed to get back into shape and can beat povetkin, he'll then effectively hold a bauble. No one will care if haye beats him, he's not even a top 10 fighter, theres no point haye coming back if he isnt aiming for the big 6 or 7 named fighters and 1 of them needs to be a klitschko.

Wlad
Vitali
Povetkin (if he beats chag) if not he's pointless too
Adamek
Chambers
Arreolla
Helenius
or Possibly Boystov

Those fights will either win him respect or notoriety in the US any other fight is going to loose him more respect or be completely pointless. Haye doesnt want to be another top 10 fighter he wants to be a genuine world champion again and the WBA joke title means nothing now the Super version is knocking about.

He needs to win back some respect or hype and then aim for a klit OR fight Vitali and go for it hell for leather in that fight.

He looked ill prepared and confused by the southpaw - which goes along with Teddy Atlas' pre fight comments about Alexander not being properly prepared. I thought that Povektin worked Chageav outand dominated the 2nd half of the fight. He didn't look brilliant, but then not many people would against a a cagey and defensively solid southpaw.

Those things aside, I stand by my comments about him beating Haye.

Not on last night's performance, but if he's trained properly and facing an orthodox fighter, who he can hit (Haye), then I think he puts Haye down. Getting Povetkin into the ring mentally and physically 100% could be difficult, but I honsetly think on his best day, he's the best heavyweight on the planet.

I think the fact that haye hasnt let his fans know what he is doing gives the signal that he is retiring.

Not so sure about that Finn, since he's disappeared off radar he's dodged plenty of flak personally, interviews etc and he's had Vitali Klitchsko publicly stating he's desperate to fight him after Adamek. Vit knows it's the biggest money maker out there and he doesn't want Haye buggering off before he cashes in and punches in Dave's mush.

I also wonder whether there is a Povetkin meeting on the horizon because Haye poked his head out to support him against Chagaev and complimented Sauerland at the same time...just thought.

I thought the exact same thing. It would be an easy fight to make and gives Haye the chance to go out as "world champion" without fighting a Klit

i know he's on or been on holiday so maybe he was waiting to see how things panned out with povetkin before making a statement. But apparently froch spent some time with him on holiday and doesnt think he's planning on a come back.

He'd be crazy going out like that the defeat wasn't devastating , maybe he's looking at his bank balance thinking why bother.. I suppose if he genuinely thought he was going to beat Klit and has now realised he's not the better than them motivation goes
