Tyson seemed like he took a year to hit the floor when Buster kept leaning in to finish him off. Tyson was at about 9 o'clock in terms of angle to the canvas when Douglas leaned in with that last right hand.

Bugner did the slow fall after getting nailed by the Frazier left in the 10th round of their fight.

Bugner was helpless on his feet and Frazier could have decapitated him, but was simply too much of a great sport to do something like that.

Yes, I know, some of you think it is the fighter's job to beat on a guy until the ref steps in. I disagree.

A young Ray Mercer against Jesse Magee, he seemingly went the whole way round the ring before falling.

In round 2 with Holmes, Gerry Cooney looked like a man doing a bad John Travolta between getting smacked on the head and hitting the floor.

Bugner was wobbling and, yes, he was at Frazier's mercy but he didn't actually go down as such. Bugner was never on the canvas against Frazier. Either way, Bugner-Frazier was a really good fight. One of the few times when Bugner actually went for it.

ps yes, a gentlemanly act by Frazier but he nearly paid for it as his eye was in a bad way by the end of the fight. Nowadays a lot of refs would stop the fight for less.

Are you sure Bugner wasn't knocked down in the 10th by Frazier?

I haven't seen that fight for years, but I thought Bugner was momentarily out on his feet from a left hook, Frazier held up, and then Bugner slowly sank to one knee on the canvas....thus a legit knockdown.

Maybe I'm wrong, like I said, I haven't seen it in a long time.

See for yourself:

The knockdown is about 9:35 of the tape. Bugner definitely goes down to his right knee, and Gibbs begins a count. No mandatory 8-count in England back then, so the count stopped when Bugner regained his feet. Not that it mattered because it looked like Bugner was down about 8 seconds anyway.

I can't believe I'm the first to throw out Jersey Joe Walcott in the 13th round of the Marciano fight. He gets caught with a hellacious right hand, is completely out cold, and just very slowly goes all the way down to the mat face first. This is always the first fight that comes to my mind if I think slow falls to the canvas

I can't believe I'm the first to get rid of T-shirt Later on Walcott while in the 13th round in the Marciano fight. Your dog becomes ensnared that has a hellacious right hand, is utterly outside cold, and merely extremely little by little moves up right down to the particular sleeping pad encounter first. This really is continually the earliest combat this comes to my mind easily assume slow-moving declines to your material
