Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
Strip him!!!
Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
If he loses in a 'non title' contest he should lose the belt.

Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
I'm gonna have to rule that Johnson be stripped unless he makes his mando next week. He can however compete in a non-title affair against Schmeling this week, as well as going back to the tournament the week after the mando. Any remaining fights in the MDT will be non-title affairs as well.
What this means is he will miss one round of the group stage if he takes the mandatory, and his opponent for that week will get a walkover. Since the group stage is based on accumulated points, he may still make it through to the knock out rounds.
Some of you may think this is showing favoritism towards a belt holder, and you'd be right.
Sincerely,

Then both Peter Jackson and Rocky Marciano will be delighted to hear that they have both been reinstated as WBO and WBC champions respectively. In addition, Rocky will be round to collect the IBF belt this week.
Treating champions with deference and "showing favoritism to beltholders" does seem a sensible and reasonable path! The Commish should be held in high esteem and lofty regard for his courage, even handedness, and his forthright executivism!

Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
Different scenario Buzz. You wanted unification, and demanded that the winner be awarded both belts, despite neither being eligible for the other's title. You also refused to fight your mandatory, which is the key issue.
Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
Marciano had no mandatory.....Jackson had a mandatory.
Unless your saying that Jackson didn't qualify as a top ten opponent within the WBO......which he surely would have the moment he was stripped of the WBC. However I do understand the technicality.
Seems Rocky had a case for a potential positive review from your corporate office......however we understand how cruel the environment can be, and showing GBP any quarter at all can cause massive street protests. We fully understand that the commish is the thin line that protects these various Palookas from total humilation at the hands of the cruel, powerful and dominant ways of GoldenBuzzPromotions.
It is only with the coordinated efforts of ALL participating managers COMBINED with the powerful offices of the commish that GBP can be somewhat held at bay from owning all titles at all times. We have no quarrel with this.....it keeps the sim seemingly competitive, while offering others the exciting and breahtaking illusion that they and their various simfighters could/can actually compete with the likes of GoldenBuzzPromotions and it's various conglomeratal subsidiaries.
This has the effect of higher ticket sales, keeping butts in the seats, in order keep the hired help paid at those unseemly union scale wages that they demand.

Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
Why not just strip Johnson this week, make it vacant. And have 2 of the highest ranked fighters in the WBA rankings fight for it next week.
Having all this "non title affairs" fucks up the 3 defence rule because everyone (including myelf) counts the defences by the number of weeks thata fighter holds a title.
It's just not right holding a major title and not choosing not to defend it.
It's not like the other champions can fight cpu opposition every week.
Why can't Mr. Deo defend his WBU title against his opponent as he is elligible? I think that one makes sence.

Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
And then there are legends, Like BenK and GBP who will not hide behnd the "rules"....and CHOOSE to fight the best even at the cost of a belt now and again.
For example....two great multiple belt holders created a single champion by NOT hiding behind their belts.

Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
I'm in favour of all ineligible fights with a beltholder involved being non-title affairs.
Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
Commish, whats the ruling on losing in a non-title fight?
Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
Hence why the fights should be allowed or Jackson should be stripped.JDC wrote:Commish, whats the ruling on losing in a non-title fight?
If Schmeling beat the current WBA Champion and doesn't get the title?
what madness is that?
Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
I'm not fussed about getting the title, but I don't think even the WBA would allow the belt to remain with Johnson after a loss
Re: VOTE: MDT Title defences
Well you know how it is mate. Johnson's trying to do 2 things at once, defend his title and progress in the tournament.JDC wrote:I'm not fussed about getting the title, but I don't think even the WBA would allow the belt to remain with Johnson after a loss
But depending on the Commish's viewpoint, this just can't be done.
