As the fight nears I'm starting to change my mind on my original prediction. One minute I'm thinking Hall by late stoppage, but then I'm thinking McDonnell will see out a decision.

It's hard to split the two!

Should be a great fight to get the season going. :box:

I think the only way jamie could win is by getting a decision,as hes on home ground and theres no chance he'll stop stuey. My moneys on tko for stuey. If the fights as close as peoples opinions then a draw at big odds could be on the cards!!

Great fight to get the season going. I just had McDonnell edging it by a round.

Was disappointed in the commentary bias though. They really didn't credit Hall much for his work. I thought the fight was much closer than the commentary were suggesting.

McDonnell should still stay away from world level IMO.

Excellent fight to open the season, I had McDonnell by a couple of rounds, i thought Hall faded in the middle rounds and a late rally couldn't really rescue him on the cards.

crackin fight thought the body attack between rounds 5 and 7 by mcdonell was the key, from there hall started to look a bit tired, he rallied back at the end, but mcdonell match him punch for punch and desreved it i had a by 3 rounds but some was very close. a good way to start the season, was disapointed with jeffries again, just doesn't seem to have made the jump from amature style, think they should put him and anderson in together think thats a good matchup for them both.

I heard that this was the first fight that Jamie could take time off from work to train for? He was in tremendous shape, he has an amazing engine.

Great fight last night, fantastic atmosphere in there.

I had it really close up until the mid point and McDonnell's superior work-rate and movement let him edge forward, he left Hall chasing him round the ring and trying to cut the ring off.

I had it 116-112

For all the mouth hall made at the weigh-in by saying ''I can't wait to just smash his head in'' ''He's just a little boy'' it made me want jamie to win just that bit more!

Hall was chasing shadows for much of the fight. He only had a plan A an then he was f*cked from then on. Swinging for the fences the entire fight!

Glad jamie won, better boxer, better work rate, better engine, better person!

Yeh McDonnell comes across a more laid back nice lad, but I guess Hall was doing what he needed to do to get the fight on. Rivalries are what we need domestically and on the world scene to get some interest back into the sport imo.

Superb fight! McDonnell is a class act, some beautiful boxing and unreal determination! Hall is a very good domestic fighter but will be found wanted on the European level IMO, too one dimensional and doesn't set that right hand up well enoughbut domestically he will be very hard to beat. McDonnell is on the cusp of a world title but it's such a tough division, I can't see him competing with the likes of Mares, Agbeko or certainly Donaire. I would really like to see him in with Perez to get a real gouge of his ability and world level credentials.

Congrats to jamie and fight academy! Hell of a fight, didnt see stuey lose on the night but after watching it back on tele the mid rounds won jamie the fight.Class performance from both fighters,it took a couple of defeats for jamie to come on to how he is now and the same will happen with stuey.Wont be long before we see that belt around stueys waist again.

Brilliant performance by Stuey.. takes 2 to make a good fight n they made a cracker. Jamie wont hang on to the British and Stuey will be straight back in there to claim it back. Hes a great fighter and as hard as they come for a man to turn pro at the age he did and achieve so much in only a hand full of fights is amazing himself and mick marsden are a cracking team.
I said a few things on run up regarding whos Stuey beat etc... its all about mind games and you do your best to try get under fighters skin, anything to try distract how a fighter is thinking!
he has my upmost respect in and out of the ring. Hope he goes away and has a brilliant wedding im 100% confident he will come back and clean up domesticlly again and im sure he will be chasing Jamie all the way to werever is path is leading. well done stuey your a REAL fighter.

Kudos for the shape you got him into.

I thought he showed a great chin too, he got hit cleanly early on but seemed to get stronger as the fight went on (if that's not a cliche).

I really liked his left uppercut too, was great to watch.

Class that Stefy, and spot on both lads put up a great fight. Thats what we need to see more of real 50-50 fights, both lads deserve loads of credit for this, and lets hope Jamie can go on to do things on the world stage, and maybe have a rematch in a year or 2 :TU:

Excellent fight, Mcdonnell won 8-4 for me .

He sometimes looks quite ragged and scrappy in the ring but you look back and his defence (especially head and uppeer body movement) and shot selection are superb at times. His body work is on a different level and thats what really won him the fight tonight.

Is he ever in a dull fight?

what a quality post, i know for a fact that will be fed back to Stuey. It takes so much to step into the ring and the two lads did boxing proud.

For those that reckon Stuey is cocky you couldn;t be further from the truth it was just pre fight chit chat, both top lads and both deserve massive respect.

great night of boxing and jamie Mac has a new fan in me, i met him after and despite having been in a top drawer fight, still had time for a chat and a photo.

Gutted for Stuey but hhe will be back....enjoy ya wedding kidda
