Pat passed away over the weekend at the age of 89. Along with his brother Goody, Pat trained probably the greatest middleweight of all time in Marvelous Marvin Hagler, a brooding southpaw from Brockton in Massachusetts who paid his dues and shunned Don King before dominating big-time boxing for much of the 1980s.
Pat also steered his son, Tony, to a shot at the WBA light-welterweight title against Wilfred Benitez in 1976 and Robbie Sims to a win over Roberto Duran 10 years later.
The tiny city of Brockton produced both Hagler and Rocky Marciano.
