Stephen Smith vs John Simpson III Should Happen!

Post by Cotto16 »

Yeah I know John is 0-2 in the series. But that dosent tell the full story.

I scored BOTH to Simpson and while they were close, I felt Simpson deserved the nod both times. And am up for III.

Am sure Sky would also be interested, because they make for great back & fourth fights. And this time it should be on completey neutral grounds maybe York Hall?

Thoughts?

I would rather one of these fighters moved up to fight for the European title.

Smith is ranked 3rd and Simpson is ranked 4th in the European rankings.

Yeah but then who deserves it more? Considering how close the fights were.

John deserves a trilogy.

I think they deserve a break from each other at the moment, but a rubber match def should happen down the line if both are still in the title picture.

I think although their fights were entertaining, that we need to see Smith in other fights before they come back for this again. Althgouh I agree, it would be good for the EBU belt.

I thought John nicked both but I think he'd be better served moving in his own direction for now, he's a top quality fighter and will be champ again no doubt

I dont see what purpose this fight would serve for either guy or us- as Simpson himself said we'd just see the exact same again. I scored both for Simpson as weel but the results were well within the confines of acceptability.

Simpson needs to figure out why it is he's constantly in close fights. My theory is that he's simply not quick enough.

I agree.
These lads are evenly matched and will always make for a good match.
Would love to see a third fight between them.

Simpson won both fights IMO. Particularly the second bout.

Poor John needs a break and a European title shot should be in order now. When I see some of the undeserving EBU challengers you have to feel for Simpson.

There are so many outcries about poor decisions that are no more than close fights, but Simpson has had more than his fair share of bad calls. The guys a true pro.

All true BUT he has to have a look at himself. If hes's so good why is it that he very rarely wins decisively at chamionship level.

imo ,simpson loses close calls due to his style,he is very one dimensional and you couldnt exactly say he was a great stylist, itseems to me that the judges prefer scoring for better technical boxers,so called flashier boxers and that the judges dont really appreciate simpsons tremendous work rate and clubbing overhands which not many domestic fighters have dealt with including smith in particular the second fight.

Of coarse John wants to fight Stephen again, the 2nd fight was a wee cracker of a fight and for the life of me don't now how we never got the nod.Taking nothing away from Stephen whos a great fighter and a great wee guy and from a lovely family,we had a wee laugh about the fight at the 02 arena thats what its all about.Good luck to Stephen if he gets a euro title shot, but please defend it against Smiling John Simpson! :OhYes: :OhYes:
