McCloskey - Prescott: who have you got?
McCloskey - Prescott: who have you got?
Hi guys, first time poster, could not see a thread for this fight so if there is one - sorry! I was thinking this would be a fairly straight forward win for McCloskey to be honest but found article below on newsnow and starting to change my mind as there is valid points. Who is everyone picking here?

Like when Martin Lindsay lost a close one to Simpson in Belfast? How many dodgy decisions have you seen local boys get there?
Re: McCloskey - Prescott: who have you got?
McCloskey for me, can see it getting scrappy but a home points win sounds realistic.

That's how I see it too.JamesH wrote:McCloskey for me, can see it getting scrappy but a home points win sounds realistic.

McCloskey UD - no "shady decision" involved.
Re: McCloskey - Prescott: who have you got?
Quite unanimous then! Should have gone with my original thinking! haha

McCloskey all the way for me. Prescott is far too overrated and stepping up weight as well for only his 4th fight at this level and since the move up he hasn't fought anyone of any note.

I think Prescott is being somewhat under-rated by a lot of people. No he hasnt set the world alight but his losses are by no means the embaressment people make them out to be.
McCloskey in my eyes could be the ideal opponent for Prescott, Paul leans away from punches using upper body and head movement with little to no foot movement looking to counter, works nicely against a Khan type you throws flurrys of straight shots, but against Prescotts looping and mostly wild hooks i think he could get hit a hell of a lot. Also lets not forget depite Prescotts flaws he does possess one of the best jabs around the weight, truly lovely when he gets it right.
I think this could end up turning into a bit of a war with Mcloskey losing early rounds and getting into a firefight trying to claw it back.
Im backing Prescott on pts, very close on the cards.

Prescott. He looked really good in his last fight and will dominate from the centre of the ring, establish the jab and dominate more and more as the fight goes on.

Prescott late stoppage, i think he'll have to much for McCloskey after the first 6 rounds
Re: McCloskey - Prescott: who have you got?
50/50 fight but my money is on a close points win for McCloskey.

This is an interesing fight. If this was in America I would say Bradley on points,
but because it's in Northern Ireland, McCloskey on points.

For this fight, though, I'm picking McCloskey to win by a *fair* decision. Kevin Mitchell beat Prescott easily, so I'm sure a more awkward McCloskey can do it, provided he's careful.

Not sure Bradley would be keen to fight Mcloskey unless Paul bring ssomething to the table.
I am picking prescott as after watching his 2 losses, it struck me that what he has problems with are fighters who move around the ring.
mcloskey is very elusive with his head to the point he can mak eanyone look silly. however he is not a mover around the ring as he plants his feet pivots form the waste and then counters.
meaning prescott will not have to go chasing and he can plant his feet and bomb a combo of looping and staright punches hence landing and missing respectively.
I like both guys and not for one or anothe rto win just agood fight but ny observation style wise is prescott takes this unless mclosky moves around the ring like mitchell and vasquez employed against breidis

i was surprised to hear on the boxing truth podcast that this fight even registers in america - the hosts were complaining it's not on US telly and they'll have to watch it online.
IF mccloskey wins, could be a decent warm-up for Khan in Dec, come to Belfast, sellout arena, make a few quid and put to rest any tiny, small claim that dudey had a chance if it hadn't been stopped.

McCloskey to beat Prescott with some ease in this one thou
Re: McCloskey - Prescott: who have you got?
i wouldn't be too keen on it myself, could be a nice payday for both men though. i don't think mccloskey can go much further than the level he's at now.

Taken from McCloskey's Facebook:
"Prescott is AWOL.waiting 20mins on him. He came in over weight and is out running the docks :-)"
Looks like Prescott is taking a running tour of Béal Feirste to lose an extra few pounds.
