I simply cannot see any PPVs not featuring marquee names doing remotely well on any platform other than SKY unless they were significantly cheaper than the usual £14.95. With no SKY backing or promotion, a potentially good fight between Cleverly and Bellew becomes a minority attraction that only hardcore boxing fans will pay for.

None of Warren's fighters are PPV calibre at the moment and unless the card was seriously stacked with 50:50 fights then it should be on normal SKY sports, which I believe Bellew said it was on.

unless of course its a lot cheaper ( fiver or something ) but would rather boycott or go to pub

None of these guys are what i would classs as Pay Per view material

Unless FW turns this into another Mag 7 type bill, I cannot see it being a big success on PPV. I am a mug and will probably still pay, but not sure how many others there will be.

I don't think so, think its the same as Primetime or is it Premier sports?? getting confused as one of the other channels that they have boxing on cannot be accessed on Virgin.

Primetime PPV's are available, but Premier Sports isn't. If they are going to start putting proper fights on allegedly then they really should be putting it on Virgin as well shouldn't they?

Not a chance I'm paying for this card unless I actually go to the event. None of the fighters are PPV material and neither of the fights are. Surely a move by FW of this nature would ruffle a few feathers at Sky Sports as well?

How are new fans going to be attracted to the sport if every half decent card is PPV? It could really be a bad move for all concerned and most importantly of all, the sport as a whole.

Don't be fooled by the PPV hype, just say no!

If everything is out in the open then it might not have to.

For example if Sky says 'You can have £x' and the promoter says, right for x you can have Jamie Cox v Whoever and Sky says fine, then that's OK, I think. As long as they get it, that is

If it is to be a allegedly ppv, I'll be interested to see the pricing strategy. The blanket £14.95 has always seemed too generic for me.

I think that if its FW's channel (as such) then surely he won't need to charge £14.95 as there won't be the overheads of screening it directly through Sky PPV surely??

I think you might be right, Ian. The more I look at the evidence it does look like talks are or have been taking place. A shame for the sport if any decent FW card is to be hidden away on an obscure PPV channel. I'm not saying that FW's stable is bigger than the UK boxing scene because obviously it's not. Neither will all his cards be PPV, but a shame that he's chosen this path when what the boxing public needs right now is to fall back in love with the sport and not left feeling cheated out of there hard earned cash, which is the feeling most people have after the last few PPV's.

Fighters such as Cleverly, Bellew and DeGale may well be household names if they continue on Sky Sports but making them PPV just forces them underground, leaving most average boxing fans asking in the future, 'Nathan who?'.

For example, I work with a large workforce(mainly male) and Tyson Fury fighting on channel 5 really seems to have catapulted interest in him and the boxing scene throughout. Where as you take the article in the paper today about Cleverly V Bellew, most of the guys hadn't a clue who they were and they aren't likely too either if they are to be fighting on a PPV level.
