WBU

Post by slapbangwhallop »

Which fights are listed, which aren't and why?

Seems like there are multiple differing bodies that were called the WBU that have been lumped in here.

I wasnt suggesting I knew the answer "computerrank" is was more of a question mate.

I thought the WBU stopped sanctioning fights in 2005.

So which WBU sanctioned the Willie Limond fight?

The Old English one, the new German one or the even newer American one?

I don't know.

My only intention is to prevent any mix-up of titles of the original WBU and of any follow-up organisation with the same name in the Boxrec database.

So do you have any knowledge of what were the last bouts santioned by the original WBU - where is the borderline?

Any help would be appreciated.

Two articles touching upon the WBU were recently posted on BS.com.

1. http://www.BS.com/bouadla-retu ... ore--43770:

"The Jimmy Lange vs. Raul Munoz fight was sanctioned by an American version of the WBU and apparently they have nothing to do with the WBU that is based in Germany."

2. http://www.BS.com/rogans-bout- ... ute--43836:

"The British Boxing Board of Control is understood to have refused to sanction the Martin Rogan vs. Luis Andres Pineda bout amid doubts over the ownership of the WBU belt. Separate organizations in the US and Germany are both claiming jurisdiction over the lightly-regarded belt."
