Sorry, after all that build-up and the promises - and even though a few weeks have now gone by.... I still feel cheated. I don't mind no knockouts, but I did expect some "trying".
I won't be doing PPV again and it is down to Haye-Harrison and Haye-Klitschko.
Who can blame you.. I was a fan of Haye when many were hating on him but it's hard to stay on the bandwagon after he pulled that con job in Germany. Using that TOE as an excuse was pathetic.
I never coughed up for Haye-Audley I knew it was a mismatch but did shell out for Klitchsko.
Disappointed that Haye was unable to do more, yes but he took a few and gave a few and didn't fold like Peter, Chambers, Rahman.
Wish he'd kept the toe at may until at least the post presser.
Vitali wants to fight him next, if he'd got starched by Wlad that would be off the menu toetally but that con job accusation is piffle..every fighter in history has promised to do one thing or another an failed to deliver at some point in their career and Haye is no different.
Want to see Haye actually fight a top ten guy rather than talking his way into the money fight. I think he's going to stay retired, go to Hollywood and make a few terrible/cheesy/but guilty pleasure movies with Jason Statham, make a comeback in three years when the Klitschkos retire. Bring a new audience/fanbase to boxing.
There's plenty for Haye to go at...the ridiculous thing about it is that he could beat Povetkin and we'd be in the same boat as we were pre July 2.
I think he will return as his ego won't allow him to end on a sour note with the Klit defeat.
I don't think facing Hopkins is the answer but he should look at an Arreola or a Chambers and then maybe a second stab at Wlad next year.
I do fancy him against Povetkin though but for boxing's sake I hope that fight doesn't happen...imagine trying to explain that one to a floating fan.
I'm not a fan of Haye and never have been, but he is still capable of having a lot of success in heavyweight boxing, so I would like to see him test himself against opponents such as Arreola, Chambers, Povetkin, Dimitrenko, Helenius, etc. Many people deified Haye in the build up to the Wlad fight and acted as if he was well above fighting anyone without the surname Klitschko, but now #3-10 heavyweights could play a crucial role in his career rehabilitation—if he is inclined to undergo that process.
Apparently in October, month of his birthday. Whether he does or not is open to conjecture.
He did say any other fights have to happen before then (pre & post Kiltschko). Seeing as that's not going to happen, we have to assume he will call it quits.
He'll retire. There is absolutely no way he'll get on PPV again so his earnings will be drastically reduced, and he won't want to fight for 1/5th of the purse he got against Wlad against someone like Povetkin who may beat him. It's a risk/reward situation - and I can't see Haye taking the risk for little reward.
He is virtually single handedly responsible for the death of PPV, and for that I thank him. I was right behind him all the way, but his heavyweight career is something that leaves a VERY bitter taste.
