Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
He says in this interview Clev is training double what he did for his last fight. He also said if Clev NEVER done another day sparring for this camp he'd still win easy. And he dosent care Bellew is sparring Enzo Mc.

Twice as much definitely doesn't equal being twice as good. It's a myth that volume increases also lead to commensurate increases in performance. Definitely sounds like he's running the risk of being over-confident to me.Cotto16 wrote:He says in this interview Clev is training double what he did for his last fight. Putting it into context, he would say that wouldn't he?
I am not so sure.

Maybe the winner fights Luis Garcia.
Re: Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
Why's Clev training twice as hard as his last fight (which was due to be against Braehmer) if he thinks he's fighting such limited opposition?

Exactly! It's a bizarre statement. I think Ckevs technique is going backward just now, I once tipped him for the very top but he is a bit too gung ho now. Hope he beats Bomber up though.
Re: Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
Ah, the old 'I've never trained so hard in my life'. Up there with 'I'm in the best shape of my life' in the cliché stakes.
Re: Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
I don't know, 'I'm treating this fight like I'm the challenger' or some variation is a pretty well-worn cliché as well.
I'm not knocking Cleverley here, btw. I'm sure he's getting himself into great shape. I just find this sort of talk isn't very enlightening. In fairness, it's common in every sport.

Re: Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
So are you saying that he didnt train properly for his last fight?Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Clev is training harder for this than any of his previous fights, you would think HE was the challenger and it'll all be worth it on 15th Oct.
If hes training harder now does that mean he only went at 70 or 80 percent before?

What decent sparring is Cleverly getting for this?
I hope its alot better than just at Lockets gym

I heard a rumour that Gavin Rees agreed to stand on a big box to spar Nathan.tonyevs wrote:What decent sparring is Cleverly getting for this?

An early win for Cleverly wouldn't surprise me in the least. He has a substantial edge over Bellew in terms of speed and reflexes.
There's a very good chance this ends up being the mismatch it appeared to be, directly after the first McKenzie fight.
That's the superficial take at least, a take shared by the bookies I hope.

Re: Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
Don't you find it a little strange that at the recent press conferences, Nathan went out of his way to label this a stepping stone fight. He's repeatedly said that the fight is only happening because of Bellew's mouth, that he's a limited fighter and that he doesn't deserve the shot. And then he turns around and says that he's training twice as hard than for his last fight, which was supposed to be against an extremely dangerous opponent.Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Because no one is taking his title away from him, regardless of the opposition. simples.StevenB wrote:Why's Clev training twice as hard as his last fight (which was due to be against Braehmer) if he thinks he's fighting such limited opposition?
I think he knows he's in for a real scrap here despite what he says. He's not as stupid as his dress sense suggests :)

Vince Cleverly is a Dick , seen him recently conducting himself terribly.
He craves attention and is not as confident as he portrays
The guy should stick to being a Karaoke singer it's about his level![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Re: Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
What's got him the shot is that Clev probably recognises the fight is his best chance of a big purse without a perceived risk of getting beat.
Clev's problem is that he's not a big draw and whilst his fanbase is undoubtedly loyal, it's not exactly massive. So what are his options?
On the Euro scene, Shumenov and Silakh are not well known enough and are too big a risk. He's not well known in the states, a fight against Cloud or Pascal and co is some way off in reality. Clev probably sees this fight as a chance to earn a career high purse and fight a 'limited fighter'. Its a no brainer for him
We'll see what happens on the night but what I do know is that he's now the one on a pedestal the others are aiming at. He's there to be shot at and he's going to face someone who wants it so bad on 15th Oct. We'll see

Here we go again, not the first time you've taken to a public forum to get personal and slag off a man you know nothing about when in fact, you couldn't be more wrong about Vince. I find that pretty sad.. Surely you have better things to do?
They say you should judge a man when he goes out of his way for you when he has nothing to gain and Vince has done that many times for me so find something better to do with your time.

Vince is a top bloke mate, everytime I've met him has gone out of his way to talk to us.

@cardifflad I'm sure you're right Tony would love to be the one defending the belt but I just know he's super motivated and he believes 100% that he will win the fight. I can't wait for it now.
At the end of the day, he's my cousin and I'm massively biased but that said, I rate Clev highly and respect what he's done at a young age in a division which traditionally the older guys dominate.

Although there has been criticism of Tony's opponents ie not up to much etc.
Nathan's have hardly been steller, yet he is WBO Champ. So again, let's keep things in context.

Its irrelevent if no one respects my opinions, at least i can string a sentence together without mentioning another boxer being 'unconscious' or in an 'bad way out cold'.
Everytime i seem to warm towards Bellew and speak to his genuine fans like his Cousin StevieB (who represent him well and speak sense), you rear your head and talk shit! Keep talking mate - i just hope your still hear on the 16th October ya mug.
Tony must be so proud of you and the way you talk about him ;)
the two of you are extremely biased on both sides.
i dont think the forum members read too much into your comments on the fight because they are clearly biased comments
Re: Vincent Clev ''I Think It Will Be Over In The 1st Few Rnds''
I'm so happy he's training hard and getting good sparring with my pal Steve Simmons! I would be gutted to hear he's not training hard, let him know I'm leaving no stone unturned and that come 15th October there'll be no excuses made, you all have my word here, I'll not make any?? I hope he keeps the same stance!
Make no mistake I have respect for him BUT come fight night, I shall not be moved and I shall be crowned world champion! A lifetimes work comes down to 36 mins!! I'll be ready!!
