Primetime's two selected forums

Post by Glyn Leach »

Apparently Primetime has chosen two forums from which to answer questions during the Mayweather-Ortiz PPV. Anyone know more? Seems weird to me, why not just take texts, emails and tweets from individuals. Is there a logic to this that I'm missing?

Far, far easier in terms of staff time and access to take them from a forum, perhaps?

And this will be one of them, I would have thought, with Eastside being the other.

Just been told something called 606v2 is one of them? Never heard of it. Have Boxrec or any of the other boxing forums actually been asked?

It's much easier to manage than text and emails.

They might also be hoping that it is an easy way to build goodwill with us boxing dorks, I mean hardcore fans.

i can understand the 606 forum getting asked, Mayweather will probably have a wider appeal to the casuals than say Froch.

I've been using it a little while now and I actually think it's got a bit better. Or I've got used to it.

Regardless, there would be plenty of relevant, quality questions/points for them to address.

I'd be disappointed if Boxrec doesn't get an invite - we can be as stupid as anyone when it suits us but IMO the level of thought and discussion on here is Michael - second to none. Don't read Scene, might that be counterproductive to B and I?

Well, we'll agree to differ. I only read the ESB British forum and even then only the threads which appeal/might not lead to idiocy. There is a lot of sh1te on there but some really good posters.

Yes Glyn, BoxRec should get the invite but it's not in our nature to ask for one. 8)

As Macho said, one does have to be a member and logged in but that was precisely introduced to make it more difficult for trolls, hopefully increasing the quality of discussion.

Bunce used to do this kind of interaction all the time with his Setanta show and on previous Primetime shows Andy Kerr has been reacting on air to discussions and questions on the forums, especially ESB. I have always been a fan of this kind of interaction. I would be very surprised if boxrec is not approached to join in on this, as there are a lot of quality posters on here and I am sure interesting questions will be put forward.

As far as I'm concerned I will be across as many forums as possible just like the Setanta days. That's what I know and that means that Boxrec will be massive, trust me.
Some more details next week and I will create some themes...

All good but 606 clearly think only 2 forums are being entertained and I've heard this elsewhere too. Any idea why or if there's any truth to it at all? Somebody - and don't anyone bother asking me, it was off the record - has told me they represent 'Forum 2'. Very rarely smoke without fire ...

I'm reading the content. That's the bottom line. No exclusives. I'd have a 1,000 sites mentioned if I had my way.

 The mods are keen but to be fair, they have secured interviews with Martinez, Calzaghe etc.

Some decent discussion on the forum.
