Al Bernstein says Adamek has no chance against Vital

Post by maxicarter »

Just been watching Al Bernstein writing off Adamek's chances against Vitali completely. Says it is an "unwinnable fight"

He's probably right but with 40,000 Poles in the stadium, Vitali can hardly let it go to a decision can he ? !!

I respect Bernstein but no fight is unwinnable, specially at heavyweight

I have to agree, against Grant he looked too small and easy to hit! His movement and combo's might trouble Vitali early but I see him getting worn down but showing a massive heart but getting stopped in the later rounds. I really can't see an upset here!

I think Adamek will put in a very good showing for the first 8 rounds or so and may even be ahead on the scorecards or at least drawing by getting inside and landing on Vitali and then moving out of range straight away...the problem will be those final 4 rounds as i've noticed that Adamek has tended to start gassing a bit at Heavyweight in the later stages of fights probably due to the added bulk on his body and it's then where i think Vitali will start landing some of his bombs and wearing Tomas down for a stoppage. If Tomas has better stamina in this fight and can hit and move with the same energy he does from round 1 to 12 then he wins a very close decision.

So either:

Vitali wins by Stoppage between 10-12
or
Adamek wins by Split decison: 115-113, 114-113, 113-115.

I agree with Bernstein. Adamek has absolutely no chance. He's a similar size to Haye but will take a lot of punishment as he will try and trade but Vitali will just have far too much power. People said Haye had done nothing to deserve a shot at Wlad and only had a punchers chance. I think the same applies to Adamek without the punchers chance. Has he put a heavyweight down yet?

He is right.

I love Adamek - he is 100% fighter and has been world class for the last 10 yrs - but he is a manufactured heavy going in against a safety first, steel jawed behemoth.

Only one winner and it ain't the plucky Pole...

Fair enough but Adamek is going to win this for me if it goes the full 12.

Adameks choice of Heavyweight opponents have been perfect in preparing him for fighting Vitali in terms of height and reach and his team have used opponents like McBride and Grant to perfect the stategy he will use to beat Vitali down to a tee from footwork movement, punching in and out of range and timing and the intent was never to stop them in the same way he knows he won't be able to stop Klitschko but rather hit and move and win on points.

Adamek will put on a masterful technical display for at least the first 8 rounds that will be appreciated by the Boxing purist although be boring to the casual fan, this fight will be won or lost for him during rounds 9-12.

You're entitled to your view but i completely disagree. Vitali is checking Tomasz into the smackdown hotel then opening a can of whoopass on him

I don't think Mcbride and Grant are any use whatsoever in preparing Adamek for this challenge.
On all evidence Bernstein is right.
the only glimmer of hope for Adamek is if Vitali has slipped - his age will catch up with him at some point.

Well Al's right of course he has no chance Adamek's a tough fighter but he can't help getting into a trade war during fight's which when it happens he'll come off worse.

I like Adamek, but I just can't see him hurting Klitschko. Klitschko will try to smother any attack by the Pole, lay on him in the clinches and on the ropes to tire him out. Adamek has little in his arsenal that can hurt Vitali, but Klitschko still has enough to do Adamek some serious damage.

Barring some freak accident, I see it going the distance with Klitschko winning a fairly close decision. Adamek wins if he doesn't get seriously hurt and walks away with a nice bankroll.

Vitali has not looked great in his last three fights. Time has got to catch up with him eventually and Adamek has as much chance as anyone else out there. I agree with the people who said Haye should have targeted Vitali instead of Wlad.

Adamek will do a lot better than people give him credit for.

I can't see any chance for Adamek either, it really looks a mismatch.

No doubt Adamek will come to fight and for a few rounds it will be competitive but I just cannot see any way he can win the fight barring a dodgy hometown judging decision. He is not a big puncher at heavyweight and even if he were Vitali has one of the best chins of all time in the division, he is conceding massive weight, height and reach advantages, he is not particularly fast and technically is not as good as Vitali, has been floored at light heavyweight by Dawson and is facing a guy who has 39 ko's in 42 fights at heavy. Apart from that he has a great chance!

Well I was wrong he looked fine tonight, best Vitali performance in a while in fact.

Yeah got it kinda wrong although right in terms of Vitali winning between 10-12.

Adamek needed to get closer and smothered Vitali and throw quick punches and then got out rather then fight on the outside and give him room to pound him with that jab. Totally wrong tactics by Adameks teams but Klitschko put in a very good performance.
