Thought glenn was spot on that haye shouldnt just be given a crack at vitali, he should earn it by defeating a contender. That said vitali obviously wants to ko him, which he will do- so he may well get a straight crack and i would watch it , but it doesnt make it right and i think that was the point that glenn was making- im still recovering from his totally inept performance against the younger brother and i would want to know 100% that his toe was up to the job!
Re: i agreed with glenn mccory regarding haye
Unfortunately there are not any decent challengers left, the brothers have cleaned out the division.
Haye at least is a name and will sell the fight.
Also the Londoner has taken significant risks throughout his career often for chump change and in the opponents back yard.
His dire effort in the last fight, esp after the way he built it up may well end up be what he is remembered for.
I hope he can find some redemption here, at least this time to go out on his sword.

Re: i agreed with glenn mccory regarding haye
id love to see him fight vitali but want to see him earn it first.Haye is a name built on false pretense if he really wanted to right his credibility he would fight someone rated/dangerous to get to vitali but i dont think he will hes got under vitalis skin so he'll probably get what he wants but he'll run from vitali quicker than hes ever done once there in the ring and further damage his standing

And Haye was one of the worst. I still find it hard to understand how some on here claim he didn`t do that bad
The brothers need to look at the new contenders. Instead of looking to recycle the inept rubbish from before.
Yes, Haye`s mouth will sell the fight. Sadly his desire, determination or effort during the fight will not.
The brothers should fight those contenders who have the ambition to give it a go. Chisora for all his faults last time would have given the brothers a more determined effort than Haye put up.
Why must we watch the brothers dominate over unambitious guys - when there are guys with ambition waiting in the wings.
If a guy wins european belts. Regardless of number of fights. He should get a crack at the title ... if a guy `fights` his way into a top 10 contention .. he too should be given an opportunity too.
Guys who lose title chances - with little or no ambition - should be made to prove their worth once again to earn their title chance.
Haye should earn his chance. He certainly does not deserve a world title fight after his last no-show.

Feelings aside about David (i actually like him and his style - toegate aside).
Talking strictly about his chances... well..... I don't give him many.
Wlad was always regarded as chinny, that has never been said of his brother. And the reality is he'd need a knockout to win. And that is never a good plan going into a fight against a Klitschko !

Obv I agree about Haye's effort, but while I always thought he was a bit chinny and lacked stamina, his cojones were never in question.tonyevs wrote:Coco wrote:Unfortunately there are not any decent challengers left, the brothers have cleaned out the division.

Maybe he will show some of those guts in this fight.
And realistically how many better challengers are there? As I previously said the Klits have cleaned out the division and must be given some credit for making their challengers look so inept.
Don't say Chisora, didn't you see his effort against Fury?
At this point Fury would be a reasonable challengers and i'm surprised he has made it to domestic championship standard.
Re: i agreed with glenn mccory regarding haye
If the Division was stacked then i would agree with McCory but it`s not and as far as i am concerned Haye getting another chance at a Klitscko after all he has done in his career is more worthy then Wlad giving Chisora a shot last year or Kevin Johnson getting a fight with Vitali, who did he beat to deserve that.
Re: i agreed with glenn mccory regarding haye
Obviously, after Chisora's last fight - and result - he too should be made to prove his worth exactly the same as Haye. Before getting a world title chance.
But Fury should not be dismissed simply because we think he isn't ready. If Fury and his people want it, they certainly deserve more of a chance than Haye.
Upsets happen - Fury proved the best in Britain. He would give it a good go for as long as it lasted. Thats the type of challengers who should get the opportunities .... not a guy who gives more effort selling a fight rather than trying to win it.

In a perfect (or even sane) world, yes Haye would have to earn a shot at Vitali. But the reality now is that the Klits can fight whoever they want, because they've beaten everyone who has "earned" their shot. This is why you now see them taking on the likes of Briggs, who had no right to be in that ring.
They're looking at the $$$ now and, like it or not, Haye vs Vitali would sell.

It would sell a hell of a lot better if Haye re-established himself with one or two impressive wins first.greenyox3 wrote:In a perfect (or even sane) world, yes Haye would have to earn a shot at Vitali. Haye v Adamek would get a lot of press, for me it would be a very intreaging fight. Perhaps taking on Adamek and getting him out of there much faster than Vitali would provide their fight with a good selling point?

How big a sell would it be, thoug?. I travelled to Germany along with thousands of others and would'nt dream of going back for a Vitali fight. None of my friends who bought the PPV would buy another and SKY have apparently pulled the plug on PPV anyway! Haye was a lot bigger news here than anywhere else in the world and i dont think Germans or Americans will give a shit about him fighting Vitali anymore than they would any of the other former victims. He got there mainly with his gob and this time round, who is going to listen?greenyox3 wrote:In a perfect (or even sane) world, yes Haye would have to earn a shot at Vitali. It wouldn't be anywhere as big as Haye vs Wlad but it'd make money even if people were just watching to see Haye get a beating.mickey1975 wrote:How big a sell would it be, thoug?. As for Haye's perfomance versus Wlad, his whole gameplan was to win by knockout rather then on points so was never going to be given many rounds if it went the distance based on his activity even though i still think he landed the cleaner harder punches throughout the fight.
Haye has always been a counterpuncher especially more so at Heavyweight which has mean't fighting on the backfoot and waiting for that one opportunity for your opponent to make a mistake and get countered. The problem was that Wlad fought a very controlled fight and when he did throw a punch immediately re-set himself and move out of Hayes range. I think the criticism was that once Hayes plan to fight on the backfoot wasn't working why he didn't change and start fighting on the frontfoot the last 3 rounds or so and i think thats were the whole 'toe' thing came into play as Haye simply coundn't fight going forward due to his broken toe.

After all the talk haye had alot to loose against wlad and he fought like it, this time he has nothing to loose so we may get some guts and glory.

id like to see fury in with vitali, think hed give it a good go and do himself and uk proud imho

He would get destroyed at the moment mate and you know that, he has the heart yes, but in terms of going in with either of them right now......no chance. Id rather see Tyson Fury in with a klitscho than Haye. I think he put up more of a fight. I reckon David price could challenge either in 18 months too. (so long as he doesnt get hit in the face) 'chinny'

Its unusual that he'd want the Haye fight right now when its at such a low selling point, but then time is not on Vitali's side, retirement is clearly on his mind, so it could be that he's happy to take the Haye fight as is, without wasting a year trying to build it up. He's filthy rich, its possible him wanting to knock Haye out would be just as much about pleasure/legacy as it is for money!
