Not sure Haye will fancy his chances to much after Vitali destroyed Adamek.

I'd defiantly watch the fight, but see nothing other than another TKO victory. To big, to strong, powerful for Haye.

If the fight is made then it'll see David Haye off once and for all. I was one of the people, like many of us did, that believed he'd actually beat Wlad and it wasn't all just trash talk. I felt gutted after his performance in Germany, duped almost. I won't be buying into it again.

That said, Vitali will smash Haye up big time. Out of all the HW's we've seen over the past decade, Vitali is the one that could hold his own against any HW in history. He's a true warrior and in my opinion, an ATG. Adamek came to fight last night but just couldn't handle the sheer size, power and will to win of Vitali. Bring on Haye and let's see him go deeper than he's ever had to before because Vitali won't stop, isn't afraid of getting hit and most certainly will back up what ever he says he's going to do. Vitali KO, when ever he feels like it but probably between rounds 8-12 after battering Haye from pillar to post. I just hope Haye doesn't do a Solis and go down early, I can certainly see that happening as well.

Solis had his legs turned to jelly-legs by a punch. The injury was caused by going down on wobbly legs.
Hayes has no shame. He def wouldn't show anything as determined as Adamak did.
He'd run .. Then pull out with some lame excuse.

David Haye set to delay retirement

Post by supacook2k »

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/14871360.stm

From BBC Sport

British heavyweight boxer David Haye has said he will delay retirement plans if he is given a fight against either Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko.

Haye lost his WBA title to Wladimir in July and had planned to retire before his 31st birthday in October.

Vitali defended his WBC title against Tomasz Adamek on Saturday, while his brother expects to fight in December.

"If I am given a rematch or Vitali will fight me, I will postpone my retirement for six months," Haye said.

The 30-year-old told German daily newspaper Bild his decision to delay his plans was influenced by family and advice from Britain's former heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis, who earned a sixth-round technical knock-out against Vitali eight years ago.

Haye is the best boxer - in trash talking. I want to knock him out

Vitali Klitschko

"I've reconsidered everything after talking to my family and meeting with Lennox Lewis in Montego Bay, Jamaica," said Haye.

"We chilled out there and Lennox gave me some tips on how to beat Vitali, just like he did in 2003."

By beating Haye on points in their fight in Hamburg, Wladimir added the British fighter's WBA belt to his IBF, IBO and WBO titles.

But Haye insisted: "Wladimir couldn't put me down and he had the referee, judges and fans on his side. I had no real chance. Vitali should give me the chance, if he dares."

After defending his WBC belt with a 10th-round technical knock-out of challenger Adamek, Vitali welcomed the news of Haye's invitation to fight.

"Haye is the best boxer - in trash talking," said Klitschko after beating Adamek.

"I am saying that I want to fight him. Why? Because he has personally insulted me deeply. I want to knock him out."

However Vitali looked like the harder of the two brothers last night, wlads punches can be timmed and are predictable haye was slipping them but not following up with an attack, Vitali looked like he was throwing akward shots from akward angles, and using the uppercut a fair bit. Plus his chins granite.

I've been reading most of your posts mate and all you do is slag off Haye....you even tried to tell me on another thread that Haye is a bigger fraud than Fraudley!!! :o

You seem to have some personal vendetta against Haye on here....

That been said, i don't believe Haye should get the chance to fight Vitali, he would get badly beaten imo.

BUT HAYE PROMISED DECAPITATION NOT DAMAGE LIMITATION.
Wlad promised to punish him and knock him out, not just land a few more jabs and put the rounds in the bank. It goes both ways!

haye loves a pound note like the best of us :!: but vitali can massively humiliate him :!:

i think solis showed he can be tagged early with big bombs & regardless of having a great chin he's 40 & his legs will feel hayes bombs IF he was to land ,but haye as shown in tactics v big men like audley and wlad that he is increasingly shy & i feel haye would get shut down & would have to rely on booth rescuing him.

... No. It was Haye who made all the promises - and didn't back up any of them with much effort.

Wlad beat Haye more or less with the jab.
Haye managed to not get knocked down or out simply because he fought a very cautious and negative fight.
Which is unexcusable after promising to fight like a tiger and how he was a real fighter not Wlad etc.

No. it was Wlad who did what he said he would do ... Make sure he won the fight. The jab was enough.

I can't see this fight ending any other way than Haye being sparked out in 8 rounds. He isn't good or big enough. He showed what he had in him in his last fight.

Come on apophenic mate.

Is `pizza face` on par .. or even close .. to the big promises Haye made.

Hopkins is not very often fan friendly to watch ... but to put Haye in Hopkins league is plain silly. Hopkins has shown his class numerous times. Haye doesn`t have a fraction of the skills of Hopkins.
Quite frankly - even Hayes trash talk is levels below Hopkins :D

He doesn't deserve a title shot after his performance against Wlad. He strikes me as an oportunist and he shouldn't be given a shot at all. If he wants to redeem himself, then let him fight two or three guys in the top 10 and then maybe people will take him seriously again. He talks about extending his retirement date as if he is doing people a favour !!

He performed better against Wlad than anyone has against either Klitchko for years. I know alot of people, me included, were disapointed with Hayes level of intent in the fight. However, It wasn't as a bad performance as most make out.
It depends how you look at it. If you are judging the performance based on the amount of success Haye had relative to other Klitschko opponents, then I would agree. Haye won more rounds, landed harder shots, and was more difficult to hit than most of Wlad's recent challengers, and looking at it from the ''he gave Wlad one of his toughest fights in years" perspective, Haye's performance doesn't warrant the censure it has received.

On the other hand, terms like 'bad' or 'good' are often used relative to expectations. John McDermott would be lauded if he went the distance with Wlad and won a round in the process, because no one would've predicted that he was capable of doing so. By contrast, Haye has been consigned to a realm of odium even though he went the distance with Wlad and won 1-3 rounds in the process. The main reason for this harsh reaction is clear; Haye was expected to do more. Unlike most of the recent Klit challengers, he was going to lay it all on the line, he was bringing speed and power, and he was arriving in shape. These factors led many people to believe that Haye was either going to defeat Klitschko, or at bare minimum be competitive. Of course when fight time came there was little congruence between the expectations of Haye and his actions; he didn't come out aggressively, his speed and power weren't significant factors, his conditioning was irrelevant because he was miserly with his punch output, and therefore he was not victorious or competitive.

Looking at the fight from the later approach, Haye massively failed to meet expectations, and therefore his performance---even though it was superior to the performances of many Klitschko opponents ---has to be considered every bit as bad as many people have portrayed it.
I didn't subscibe to the hype and I expected him to lose in more convincing fashion tbh. In loss he made Wlad look more ordinary than he has for years.

The intent of Haye, and to a lesser exent Wlad, is the big issue. Wlad, simply, did what he needed to do.

If Haye had gone for it more he would have probably performed worse. More fans would have been satisfied with this scenario, but he may not have gotten the Vitali fight. If he had been stopped by Wlad he wouldn't get sanctioned for Vitalis belt without a tune-up.

This aside, he was never hurt and landed some punches which (at the very least) were equal to the biggest shots he recieved. He also made Wlad miss countless times. In these terms he was something of a rarity in terms of recent Klitchko opposition.

His commitment to the task of winning was crap. This time he has nothing to lose and I hope he fights as such. I'm expecting a much more valiant effort in defeat.

I think your last two points are valid to some degree, but what is funny about the first two points?

1. The jab dominated Wlad's punch output, and was the weapon that stopped Haye from getting in range and doing damage. Wlad landed some good right hands here and there, but the impact those had on the outcome was negligible.

2. Throwing a punch requires a fighter to leave himself more vulnerable than he would be if he hadn't thrown a punch. Haye fought very defensively, and therefore he didn't leave himself open to most of Wlad's attacks. If he had come out attacking hard, as he and his fans endlessly promised he would, the chances of him getting dropped or stopped would’ve been much higher. Of course it's not a given that Haye would have legitimately tasted canvas or been halted if he had adopted an intrepid approach, but it's hardly a suggestion to laugh at.

Hopefully the embarrassing nature of the loss to Wlad will have a chastening effect on Haye, and make him realize that he won’t defeat a Klitschko by fighting like Sultan Ibragimov. While I don't think Haye will ever beat a Klitschko, he is capable of giving it a better go; whether or not he is willing to accept the increased risks associated with a braver approach remains to be seen.

I think the main problem with the fight is that haye just didnt try hard enough, he promised us he would put it on the line and take the fight to wlad and effectively didnt even try to attack until the last round. He short changed his supporters.

Whats more frustrating is when he did take the fight to wlad in the last round he clearly hurt wlad.

Very Very bad tactics, haye should plan for an 8-10 round fight and just got out hell for leather. If he doesnt win in by then he isnt going to win on points anyway.

Wlad said something very interesting, he said - haye had never fought at that level, in front of so many away supporters with so much to loose, and because of that he lost his bottle. I think that pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Can haye beat a Klitschko? not that sure. Can haye do a hell of a lot better? definatley.

my point was that you berate haye for being cautious but at the same time say wlad won using his jab...which in itself is a cautious approach...

Wlad was on his front foot for much of the fight ... I honestly can`t see how you can question this if you watched the fight.
Wlad didn`t have to throw caution to the wind and fight recklessly because the jab winning the fight with no problems at all.

Now, if Haye was beating Wlad to the punch. And was making the fight close. We would have expected Wlad to have shown more.
But the fact is Haye was timid. Wlads jab kept Haye too scared to be adventerous .. Haye even now seems to use the fact that he wasn`t knocked down or out as some kind of proof he laid it on the line.
When the facts are that when a guy is being overly defensive, mounting only 1 or two wild swings a round ... he will very often see the end of the fight.

Haye promised he would not stand off Wlad. That he would take the fight to Wlad. He questioned Wlads appetite for battle ... well it was Wlad coming forward .. and Haye moving back :-?

I did not write the points that you laughed at, but both points have some truth to them and are hardly laughable when presented in isolation.

As far as my post is concerned, I was not berating Haye; I made constructive observations about how he should’ve fought Wlad, and what changes he needs to be make in order to increase his chances of beating either brother in the future.

I will concede that Wlad did not fight aggressively, but he was always coming forward, his jab was moving steadily (a jab is still a punch, and it leaves the fighter who throws it in more danger than he would have been had he not thrown it), and he did enough to win almost every round. On the contrary, Haye's approach was cautious to the point where it could duly be described as 'negative', and in taking this approach he failed to win more than three rounds. So in other words, Wlad had success and Haye did not, which is why I'm focusing on the faults in Haye's performance and suggesting that he---not one of the Klits---needs to fight more intrepidly. The Klitschkos can win by only throwing jabs; Haye can’t win by only throwing one haymaker every 30 seconds.

good points! you cant really blame the klits for not throwing caution to the wind when they are winning fights easily.

Get a fighter in there challenging them and they may become really exciting, i personally felt wlad was really disappointed that haye didnt give him a real battle so that he could prove himself as a true champion.

As much as i always used to say - wlad should be smashing up opponents if they arent challenging him, after the haye fight im now thinking why the hell should he..

Not yet, not quite.

Harrison is a con man IMO after what he did last November, he should have given half his purse to charity and hidden away for 12 months.

Instead he's lording it on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing while armchair viewers remember what a great heavyweight he was 11 years ago when he won his medal.

I reckon Dell'Olio would have at least landed a jab or two on Haye...and been more aggressive

The Harrison fight has to rank as Hayemaker's biggest con ever! Haye and Booth knew the score, and the casuals lapped it up. That fight did as much to damage British Boxing as any i can think of in years. Dont forget, your IJL special scorecards and Jamie Cox low blows are only seen by so many, this was national news for a couple of months beforehand! There is even a major doubt over wether Audley and Haye even disliked each other..
