The ignorant just dont get it that its a different game than boxing , no soft gloves protecting your hands,no time limits,no rest periods(rounds) ,you fight out in the open with no ring to pin your opponent up against etc
Some of these guys have to protect their hands for 2 hour fights and wait their time to march a man down(if hes running) and stop him ,some fights can be quick but most are more like a marathon and it takes a lot will/heart and patience to win fights like that .
Because your a good boxer does not necessarily mean your gonna be a good bare knuckle man,and visa versa .

I agree with the part a good bare Knucke fighter wont make a good Boxer but a Good Boxer would make a Good Bare Knuckle fighter, the standard aint as good as Boxing.....

I dont get involved in this scene a know little over and above what most people I know would know about it. I dont often discuss it either because it safer not to.

However, Paddy Ward was said by many to be the current 'King' - a term used loosely I know. He turned pro.

As for the feuds, they are unphathomable, irrational and extremely bitter.

The late Darren Sutherland told be an interesting story about the living arrangements at the Beijing Olympics.

There were five on the Irish boxing team, including John Joe Joyce and Joe Joe Nevin. The Nevins and the Joyces are I believe in the middle of a long running and ongoing feud in the Irish midlands.

The pair never spoke to eachother despite living under the same roof for weeks and going as far to take their turns playing the playstation against each other - mute.

No denying that the Joyce especially have some turned out some fantasic boxers, be that as a result of genetics or culture or a mixture. Big Joe Joyce in particular has sired more champions than Montjeu. I believe Joe Ward is one of his offsprings offspring as well.

He had another cousin, David, who was a Four Nations champ at middleweight I think.
Yeah, the Joyces are awesome. Funny thing is, they're from Mullingar and box out of Athy; Nevin's from same town and boxes out of Cavan.

Davey Oliver Joyce aswel , would be a brilliant pro if turned over he beat Martin Ward 17-4 a couple of months back ,then theres Joe Ward two time world youth champion big Joe Joyces grandson he is and another grandson of his John Joyce just won the European Schoolboy champs out in Chechnya a few months back .

Just watched it, entertaining. James seemed like a fairly decent bloke. As for the utterly futile purpose behind the feuding that's bemusing.
One on one fight to sort out a personal problem that you've actually had with another individual is fine but when you're fighting over something that happened generations before and didn't directly involve the combatants is brainless.

i noticed that celeb BB winner was reffing the last fight.

i can respect what people mean when they say a good boxer doesnt always make a good bareknuckle fighter, but its obv from watching that film that a half decent pro who's sharp and has footwork/technique would destroy most of them.

Cracks me up how they all proclaim themselves the "true king", but they just basically fight the same people over and over. Sort of like kids in the playground. I couldnt help but wonder if those old fellas were thinking...what the fornicate am i doing?

I can respect how they use it to settle a difference and then shake hands after, takes a bit of bottle and honour, the sort u dont see too often nowadays.

Well Joe Joyces grandson(Joe Ward) is one of the best upcoming boxers on the planet so there is definitely good pedigree there .

Doherty was supposedly a good fighter back in the day .
