what the referee is giving.
My official verdict as stated was Prescott by 1 round including the knockdown, but once again I say that the first round kd was not a kd therefore I consider the fight a draw.
We have to have an opinion other than what we are told mate, otherwise this forum would be empty.
I just meant that if you're sitting in as a judge, as far as I know, you would have to take into account the knockdown, even if you thought it was dubious.
I don't think it was a robbery because close fights can go either way.
I do wonder at times when close fights, which most people think went one way, unanimously go the other.
Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
If a fight can go either way the hometown guy will get it 99% of the time. Even if there is legitimate rationale behind the decision it's all too predictable and therefore frustrating.
Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
A judge does not have to score a knockdown as an extra point but generally they always do. This is often because know alls in America get more obsessed with things like that, rather than total incompetent scoring. Hence they go nuts when Larry O'Connell scores a close round drawn, yet ignore judges that blatantly go the wrong way.
Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
What was the results of the board meeting regarding the highly controvesial prizefighter scorecard when one of the score cards (IJL?) clearly didn't take into account the ref awarding a KD.
I think the results of that meeting might make it clearer the rule situation on the scoring of KD's.
This was a close fight, as was (IMO) Macklin vs Sturm. I think some are going OTT for both fights. I didn't think Dudey was on the verge of being stopped in the last, but IMO Macklin was in the last against Sturm.

Never mind Khan.
I'd say McCloskey v Theophane is a 50-50 fight.
I think Gavin Rees would give McCloskey nightmares too and he's a lightweight.

Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
I had McCloskey winning 115 - 114, including the KD. I'm not the biggest fan of McCloskey but thought he did enough personally. Close fight so people are bound to see it differently.
To say Prescott was robbed is going a little too far

Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
seems that Eddie is going to try and bring Maidana to Belfast - if Khan moves up then for a title.
If he can bring someone of that quality over, i'd forever be indebted to him.

No way. Macklin got caught by a shot in the last 10 secs that knocked him off balance, McCloskey's legs were gone. Big difference.
Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
Thought it was very close and cant complain with a point either way, cant say the ref was against him though awarding him the knockdown
Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
so, robbery aside, was it a really good battle?

Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
I had it for Prescott by a couple of rounds. No real cause for complaint though, there were enough close sessions to blunt any outrage.
I'm not quite sure what to take away from the fight, I've never seen a Prescott fight where his opponent was so gung ho to engage him before, outside of Khan v1.0.
As many flaws as he has, McCloskey's definitely got bags of will and durability and he should matchmake with that in mind. I see him falling short against the majority of the elite at 140-147, but he's definitely got the potential to establish himself as a Katsidis or Maidana type in those divisions. Judah might still have enough left to rain on his parade, but I think that could be a calculated risk worth taking as he doesn't deal with pressure incredibly well these days.
As for fighting Maidana, it's a big risk given that McCloskey isn't hard to find, but potentially a great vehicle to showcase the fighter he could be given a willing opponent.

Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
i had prescott winning by 1 pt.
typical that all 3 judges had mccloskey though.
robbed is too harsh a term.
he should have got the nod though.

Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
During the fight my wife asked me who was winning and who was going to win, I said "the black guys going to win but won't get the decision"....such is the state of boxing.
It wasn't a landslide but Prescott won that fight.

Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
Guys I just re-watched this fight with sound and without the sound on. Here are my findings:
I seen this fight 116-112. (including the KD) without the sound on.
115-113 with the sound on.
For the winner - Bredis Prescott.
No way on earth did McCloskey win this fight I'm afraid.. Prescott rounds were all very clear to see where as McCloskey I struggled to give him more than 4 clear cut rounds.
This is a robbery in my eyes because McCloskey never deserved to win the fight. Even a draw I'd have felt robbed if I was in Prescott shoes. And for the record I had 200quid on a McCloskey decision so I was happy but at the same time I felt injustice was done.
Can't help but feel Prescott has been had over at the hands of corrupt judging.
Sorry guys, as much as I wanted McCloskey to win this fight, he never should have won. It's totally unfair to score this fight for McCloskey and absurd in my opinion to give him more than 5 rounds. The rounds you guys are probably giving McCloskey are rounds that were close because McCloskey is the hometown fighter. Prescott was clearly the better fighter and outboxed McCloskey very clearly in the 1-6 rounds. In the 7-12, Prescott at least won 2 rounds there easily to, he was never being dominated where as McCloskey was dominated in the 1-6.
This fight was clear cut for me tbh. Prescott should have got the nod without any doubt. A loss for Prescott is simply injustice guys. How anyone can score a win for McCloskey is mind blowing

Rather low quality for supposed 'world' level.

McCloskey v Katsidis I wouldn't mine seeing. How about it? What a tear up that could turn out to be.

Re: Bredis Prescott, Robbed!
As said, I too thought Prescott won by 3 rounds (scoring the KD). It wasn't an out an out robbery but it was a pretty poor decision. Terry O'Connor scoring it 115-113 for McCloskey was poor, to be honest.
Prescott should have got the W, but that's how it goes when fighting abroad, as the opponent. You don't get favours. That's how boxing works, these days, but it doesn't mean its right.

Rees could barely get through 12 rounds with immobile, straight forward, non punching Andy Murray.DavidPayne wrote:Never mind Khan.

Fair enough if you dont rate McCloskey but saying Theophane is a 50/50 and Rees would give him nightmare is bordering on laughable in my opinion.

me and 10 of my mate s watched we all thought he was robbed

pretty good saturday night thriller, worth a look kind of fight?
one thing that pisses me off with closely scored fights, is that the robbery debate always rages on when ppl should be pleased with good, competitive action.

Yes Prescott was robbed, McCloskey was outboxed and barely still on his feet in the 12th.
Prescott tired but he amassed enough points to win if the bout was judged fairly, which it wasn't!
