Re: Hardest Puncher And Fastest Opponent
I'll let some one else answer the next one, but I'd like to elaborate on Bengulnaci's picks. Esteban DeJesus was an excellent fighter, but I wouldn't rate him as a particularly big puncher. Pretty good one, but he's not even close to any alltime lists. As for Viruet, he had an excellent chin as maybe his best attribute. The point I'm trying to make is that among Duran's opponents at LW, there are some good fighters, but no really big punchers or speed demons. Makes me wonder, with Duran's habit of sometimes ignoring his defense at LW, what would have happened if he had faced a really big puncher.
Re: Hardest Puncher And Fastest Opponent
Fair point Seamus. I was kind of struggling to a degree with Duran's opponents at LW. De Jesus probably was the biggest puncher, I mean you had Lampkin but still, I'd rate De Jesus above him and for speed, De Jesus wasn't that bad either.

Azumah's hardest punching opponent I will say Salvador Sanchez.
Quickest Pernell Whitaker.
I nominate Bernard Hopkins.

Pavlik, another Hopkins rival, I would definitely call a heavier puncher than Taylor or Trinidad - maybe Jones too.

Antwon Echols might be my vote for Hopkins. He definitely punched harder than Taylor.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Pavlik, another Hopkins rival, I would definitely call a heavier puncher than Taylor or Trinidad - maybe Jones too.

And I think I'd say Tarver instead of Pascal at LHW.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Antwon Echols might be my vote for Hopkins. He definitely punched harder than Taylor.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Pavlik, another Hopkins rival, I would definitely call a heavier puncher than Taylor or Trinidad - maybe Jones too.

Re: Hardest Puncher And Fastest Opponent
Carried well his power up to 168 lbs.
Re: Hardest Puncher And Fastest Opponent
For Michael Spinks I'd Have
Hardest. Qawi
Fastest. Sutherland. He didn't have the power or chin to beat the big boys, but he through some nice fast combos that made him look good at times against the best.

Doing this without looking, but maybe Foreman on power, Holyfield for speed?
Re: Hardest Puncher And Fastest Opponent
Really? I'd say Tyson and Tyson. Especially at the time they fought compared to when he fought Mercer or Holmes.

Trinidad was the best puncher, & I would call De La Hoya a shade quicker than the Mosley Vargas went up against.Jaywheel wrote:Really? I'd say Tyson and Tyson. Especially at the time they fought compared to when he fought Mercer or Holmes.
