Hatton vs. Tszyu highlights on ITV2

Post by states »

Whilst watching my footy team (Champions of Europe 2005 :TU: ) Liverpool dismantle (ahem  ) the mighty Total Network Solutions tonight, I caught an advert for Arthur - Sinitsin, this weeks bout on ITV2. It seems they'll also showing highlights of Hatton's win over Tszyu.

I presume that everyone here either watched the fight live, or has at least seen highlights already, so this is hardly a heads-up. That said, I do think it's a good indication of ITV's commitment, because I presume ITV have had to buy the rights from SKY, which I doubt have have been cheap, given that Hatton was the one guy SKY could get away with putting on PPV. Is this the start of the big Hatton build up on mainstream TV? I hope so, because whilst Khan is obviously the star in the making, Ricky is the star right now. Personally, I'm glad he's getting some more exposure.

It is good but remember not everyone has ITV2, probably would have been better if they couild have stuck it on the end of an ITV1 show then the whole population could have had the chance to see Hatton at work but can't argue at ITV commitment

You get ITV2 with freeview, a box can cost as little as a night out on the tiles!! stay in one night save the money and watch some decent boxing to boot!

I've got Sky anyway but it would be great to see Hatton and other fights on ITV.

When I arrived at the Bolton Arena on Saturday last (16th July) Ricky Hatton and trainer Billy Graham were standing outside the front doors chatting with everyone, doing autographs, mobile phone pics and the like. They were there for quite a while without any great fuss just mixing with the punters. I was in Manchester filming the weigh-in's, pressers, gym calls for the Hatton vs Tsyzu fight and I hope ITV use some background stuff to give the new terrestrial audience a flavour of the real drama of that event.

I've managed to get my Sky reduced to £16.50 for the sport package for the next 3 months, but when that runs out, plug out for the Sky box and in goes the freeview box, which cost £35! Will miss Soccer AM though :(
