Rob Norton - No Purse Bids
Rob Norton - No Purse Bids
Boxrec reports that no purse bids were received for Herbie Hide to face Rob Norton for the British Cruiserweight title.
Does this mean that neither of them wanted the fight?
Is Norton still the British Champion? Why has he not been stripped having not fought in nearly two years?
And why hasn't he not fought for so long?

Re: Rob Norton - No Purse Bids
His mandatory challenger's promoters don't bid on the fight either, so why should he be stripped?Finch wrote:Is Norton still the British Champion? Why has he not been stripped having not fought in nearly two years?

Re: Rob Norton - No Purse Bids
i think its about the 3rd time its gone out to purse bids without a bidder .
Is there any point on bidding on it if Hide has no intention of ever fighting again , as thats the impression i get , maybe someone will tell me im wrong but thats just the way i see it .

Norton has no fans and is generally in poor fights.
Not surprised no one wants to lose money promoting a fight with him in...

The first Dolan fight was good. Norton v Hide as a warm up to a mian event would be good.

Feel a bit for Rob Norton - because of his style and the fact this fight hasn't been bidded on for atleast the 3rd time he's been left in the wilderness, he's about 39 I think too so is getting on, and he wants to win the lonsdale outright.
By the way he's down for a 6 rounder in Walsall October 8th.

I agree mate, but you have to agree he can't be stripped of a title that he hasn't lost and is willing to defend.
Re: Rob Norton - No Purse Bids
i agree they didnt want dolan no 3 why not i wonder said no 1 was good enough after that to fight him felt sorry for rob and the board should of kept puttin people in front of him norton didnt fancy dolan again which it should of happened thought and many thought dave easy won second fight board kept knockin it backsaturday_kid wrote:I agree mate, but you have to agree he can't be stripped of a title that he hasn't lost and is willing to defend.

If Hide isn't willing to fight then why was he made the mandatory challenger?damianhucker1 wrote:i think its about the 3rd time its gone out to purse bids without a bidder .

Doesn't the Board ask fighters or their teams if they want the fight before making them the mandatory?
Re: Rob Norton - No Purse Bids
norton is terrible and boring to watch ,also comes across a bit of a knob when he was gifted a draw in his last fight
