Good call. I really wouldn't be able to watch Rogie claiming he was the new "Heavyweight World Champion".

He mentions that the BBBofC recognised the WBU when Ricky Hatton was their champion but am I right in thinking that this WBU is a different one from the one when Hatton was champ?

I might be completely wrong, but my understanding is that the BBB of C cannot stop the fight going ahead, however they would not allow any BBB of C officials to be associated with the fight or any future defences...this would therefore make it very difficult/impossible to stage.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Tony Dodson could have fought for the WBF title, but as a BBB of C license holder, he didn't want to go against their 'wishes'.

this WBU was created this year in the USA by a chap called Moose Lewis! The same chap that tried to bring us the "All White" basketball league. :o

Yes, and who used to helm the shower of shite that was the IBU. Rogan's gripe about previous Hatton WBU fights is not quite valid as it's a "different" WBU, with much lower standards. I think the only person disappointed with the BBBC's stance here is Rogan himself. I don't think Lewis will get much support for this wish: "I want everyone with a drop of Irish blood in their body to write the BBBofC asking them why this was not contested in their homeland".

Boxing news says that they also stopped Howard Foster refereeing the Holyfield v Botha fight in South Afrca next month. They do seem to be making a stance against low grade titles.

Don Moose Lewis emailed me a couple of days ago. Naturally I did not reply .....

He also claims to be the president of the IBU-International Boxing Union, WAA-World Athletic Association, the UBA-Universal Boxing Association, and the IBB -International Boxing Board for men as well as the WIBC-Women’s International Boxing Council.

Looks like a great CV/resume .... *cough* :shame:

Gotta be honest, whilst hating all the crap extra titles we have these days, the man has a shot from an organisation that presumably was willing to do everything
by the book to get the fight on in the uk and low and behold the BBBOC decide it aint happening because of the title its for.

Its a bloody shame they don't clean there own house up before deciding to deny Rogan the chance at earning a few bob from the game, by whatever paper titles he may
be presented with.

Week after week we see crap decisions and dreadful reffereeing and scoring from BBBOC officials, anything done, course not, lets find something else to do and
people will forget the other crap that is going on.

Totally agree we don't want more titles really but lets address the real problems in our game before we start being holier than thou.

Maybe he can take over Charlie Zelenoff's UBF while he's at it.

The proliferation of championships IS one of the real problems in our game.
