Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Appleby being a definate, Simpson vs Selby been quoted and been posted over there that Burns vs Kats will be in London too!
Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Surely burns should be fighting in front of his own fans. MInd you Nathan cleverly never defended any titles he won in Wales yet!

Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Maybe they will throw Mitchell on the undercard also with the winner fighting him.

Regardless of what happens, I'll be watching it in Glasgow!
If it is the case, you have to feel for Ricky - seems like he is being sold down the Garden Path!
Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Mitchell has already said he was going to be on the undercard and he said the likely place was Glasgow.
Worrying thing is that nothing has been confirmed as yet though by anyone and the Kelvin Hall has only been "provisionally booked"

Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
I think he's being sold down the path fighting Katsidis. He'll get hammered. Katsidis was 140 for his last fight and is a big puncher. Burns was 130 and is certainly not a puncher. Not only that it's for the interim ain't it? Strange fight.sgtcecil wrote:Harsh!Grays_Dan wrote:Raging - I'll cry, paid for some flights to Glasgow last weeksgtcecil wrote:Read this on ESB.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Its even more strange that its possibly going to be in London.
I think burns does have a chance but is definately the underdog.
Its a shame that Burns is not getting the fight he probably wanted (Broner stateside on HBO) and I sincerely hope he is getting paid more than Golden Boy were offering!

I really hope it is still in Glasgow Dan but that was posted on the 13th so there may have been some changes to the plans!
Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Never saw the date :(
Everything crossed. It makes sense to be in Glasgow, with Mitchell fighting some bum from Ghana on the undercard for a "Intercontinental defence"

Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Would be disappointed from the point of view of a Scottish fan, but if it gets a bigger crowd, more exposure and makes Ricky more money then its great.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
He'll certainly start a big underdog. We'll see. Feel for him abit, after a fantastic victory to win the WBO super featherweight title he's sort of stalled abit with 3 sub-par standard opponents in defending his title and now he's being thrown in with Katsidis, who is a big puncher and massive pressure fighter who was moving upto light welter. Goodluck to him but like I said bit of a strange match.billy nelson wrote:Ricky wont get hammered mate you aint got a clue,Ricky will win this fight and go on to become the LW champion beleive me.yid14 wrote:I think he's being sold down the path fighting Katsidis. Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
I don't feel Katsidis warrants the chance to fight for the world title given his last performance. I can see why he is being talked of as a slight favourite, but I cannot see how a fighter who failed to win a round against Geurrero and got brutally stopped by Marquez is worthy of a shot at a vacant title.
The world title is supposed to mean just that, best in the world.... and fighting for a vacant title should mean you are among the very best in the world - that shouldn't involve losing a near shut out (but for point deductions) and getting brutally stopped in recent outings.
Might sound crazy, but I think Kevin Mitchell, given his win over Murray, is more deserving of a vacant title fight. Yes, Katisidis is worthy as an title defense, but not for me for a vacant title fight unless he could hold a win against a top European (at least) level opperator going into this fight.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
I am confused to whether it is for a world title or an interim?
Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
To be fair Katsidis has only lost in good company, no lightweight in the world would beat Juan Manuel Marquez - not Burns, not Mitchell, not Murray.... in fact he'd probably take all three on the same night with relative ease. He's that good.
At the end of the day, the belts are a f**king joke, Ricky vs Katsidis is a really good fight and one that I'd like to see - let's just be thankful we've got good fighters facing eachother rather than giving the alphabets any of our attention.

Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Fair point well said, I just cannot help but think though if the title hadn't been on the line, would Burns have had less incentive to move up and go for that Ring belt that he so craved at Super Feather. I would still rather Ricky have a go at that.LeedsLad wrote:To be fair Katsidis has only lost in good company, no lightweight in the world would beat Juan Manuel Marquez - not Burns, not Mitchell, not Murray.... in fact he'd probably take all three on the same night with relative ease. Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
Seems strange that Allegedly is moving one of his ''champions'' from the weakest division in boxing up to a pretty strong one - then again we seldom see his fighters face the absolute cream of the crop in their respective divisions.stujones wrote:Fair point well said, I just cannot help but think though if the title hadn't been on the line, would Burns have had less incentive to move up and go for that Ring belt that he so craved at Super Feather. I was shocked when this fight was made, I'll be honest. I hoped for him to face Broner in the States, a fight I think he'd win comfortably and gain lots of coverage from. Maybe they were worried about him having his head turned whilst over there?
Re: Burns vs Katsidis in London????
I think Katsidis warrants more of shot at a world title than Nicky Cook did. Saying that I'm not really sure Burns deserves one having never fought at lightweight. I've been reading articles on it though and it seems it's for the interim title, which really does make it a strange match-up.
