But carl froch also said after sparring groves that george will beat degale, at the time every one else was saying degale will win easy

Froch also said that Clev wouldnt see the final bell against Danny McIntosh..........

On a side note, i know that boxers spar varying syles before thier fights but in what relation is Bellew similar to Ward?? I really dont see what Bellew brings to the table to help Froch specifically prepare for Ward........
Bomber is taller than standing at 6ft2 while Ward is 6ftand has more dig in his punches than Ward. But I think is more that Froch with his tall awkward style that is helping Bomber when you look at it.

I think Froch is best sparring a wide range of styles, Ward is pretty versatile and seems to be able to adapt as he wishes.

If I were either Froch or Bellew I'd be boxing in their upcoming fights - especially Bellew. Cleverly to me is all heart and engine, he's not a boxer at all and employs the Calzaghe defence - eat right hands for breakfast and keep marching on. By coming forward and meeting him in the middle Tony will play into Clev's hands. Box off the back foot, not run like he did against Ovill mind.... and force Nathan to make mistakes.

Froch vs Ward is an intriguing one - most of my mates think Carl needs to rough him up and force him into submission, whereas I think that he'd be better retreating (to a point) and circling, trying to draw Ward into lunging in and countering with the short right hands, and perhaps even land one of those hail Mary uppercuts that come from deepest Antarctica. In an inside fight he'd come a distant second.

.... Cleverly was calling out Froch - when Froch was calling out Calzaghe.

Froch is all action - but as Kessler proved. He ain't no great ...

My friend stood and watched them spar and said Bellew was in some very decent form indeed.

A big departure from his recent TV outings indicated. Usually this is type of thing is "I'm sparring you, so will pick you" but my friend said nope, he was looking the goods and I'd be truthful with you if he wasn't.

From watching tapes, Clev looks the better athlete, faster and busy. But his penchant for eating right hands is a bit worrying. And say what you please about Bellew, but he can whack.

I'd take sparring with a pinch of salt personally, but does make you wonder a bit.

That's because he was sparring with Groves.

Froch is fantastic sparring for Bellew. Nobody could deny that.
But Froch is nothing like Cleverly style wise ... Froch doesn't throw anything like the amount of punches Clev does.
And if Bellew is doing good against Froch - then i'll be putting a decent amount on Ward to win!

That said - i have not liked the Cleverly training set-up. Seems their convinced they can copy the Calzaghe method ... and maybe not with Bellew, but they will soon come unstuck.

I think he was actually sparring Kenny Anderson at the time. But your probably right in his motivations for saying that.

I agree.

It is like when a boxer is asked if he is confident of winning and replies "yes" and is then made out to be too cocky. What is he supposed to do, say no !

Froch has been sparring Anderson for this fight hasn't he or is that Bellew?? Getting confused. Shocking that Froch hasn't been sparring faster guys though. Ogogo or any of the other amateurs are nowhere near the level required for Ward.

Lol at sparring the overrated Anthony Ogogo.

I've always liked and rated Bellew. He will come good imo.

IMO Froch feels threatened by Cleverly and has so from some time.

Personally I think Cleverly will get past Bellew and Froch will lose to Ward, so that could make an easy opening for Cleverly-Froch. Only problem is, Warren and Hearn match their fighters about as often as a sighting of Halley's comet.

froch v clev would be great fight if it could be made :TU: but imo clev will be way to quick for big bomber, and it will be as one sided as clev wants it to be.this is another case of talking youself into a fight, what has bomber shown in his last three to deserve a world title shot?

Better promoter - that`ll get Clev better pay days .. and wider recognition

As previously mentioned - Cleverly was calling out Froch whilst Froch was calling out Calzaghe.
Froch is without doubt the most value for money British boxer we have. But thats not to say he is some kind of All Time Great.
Kessler kinda put Froch into perspective skills wise.

Gomez, Well it's pretty tenuous actually, but I recall after Cleverly knocked seven bells out of McIntosh, Cleverly seemed keen to acknowledge Carl and offer his respect in the post fight intereview, but Froch was very stand-offish.

I'm surprised the pair haven't been linked a lot sooner and a lot more often. Nathan seems to want to get stuck into anyone out there, and whilst Froch has clearly got bigger fish to fry at the moment, I've a hunch he's well aware of the domestic threat Cleverly poses. The work rate will cause Froch fits.
