Amir Khan on Mayweather Ortiz.......

Post by doctorboxing »

Amir to Talksport:

“What Mayweather did was right. The adrenalin’s pumping and you have to defend yourself at all times.
"When Ortiz was hit with the first shot, he looked at the referee when he should have defended himself and when that happened I knew Ortiz was at fault.”

Amir to BBC Sport:

"They let him off because he is Floyd Mayweather,"
"If that was anyone else you would have been disqualified but because it was Mayweather they can't disqualify him."

The guy is just trying to talk up a fight with Floyd. Its a bit stupid saying 2 different things though but i've never had him down as the brightest of lads

Lets be fair it doesnt say when he gave each interview he may well have had a chance to look at the replays inbetween each interview and change his opinion.

i finally watched the full fight last night on youtube

Mayweatehr would surely be forced to fight alot harder by Khan or Pacman

he hardly had to throw any punches , just pot shots with his right and making Ortiz Miss

The Pacquio fight isnt going to happen now and more likely he will fight Khan as Floyd can dictate the percentages more in that one,

Lets hope one of these fights happen though before Floyd cashes out and retires for good

Amir Khan v James De Gale on Celebrity Mastermind....... now that would be worth paying for the PPV

I do think that if Ortiz had doen that to Floyd they'd have found a way to DQ him.

The ref wasn't even watching the boxing and had moved away for the fight to continue. No way he could have DQ Floyd as he didn't see it.

He couldn't have been disqualified because Cortez definately said "Let's go......" and gestured for the fighters to come together and then he looked away at the time keeper. At that point the fight was on and Ortiz wanted to kiss and hug for a THIRD time in the fight and got popped with those two shots. The referee should have been more organised and made it absolutely clear that they were to box on, Ortiz should have quit the apology stuff and been ready to fight and Floyd should have known that although Cortez said "Let's go......" Ortiz clearly wasn't ready with his hands by his side and looking away. In the end its bad refereeing, Ortiz being unprofessional and Floyd being unsportsmanlike.

Freddie Roach makes a nice comment in Bn saying he should have butted Floyd again instead of going for a hug

Mate that style is hardly unique to the Ortiz fight!
