Will Mayweather avoid Khan?

Post by rob h »

Khan reckons it will happen in the next 9 Months.

With Mayweather avoiding Manny all these years, can we actually see him taking Khan on. I would see the Khan fight as the more dangerous fight of the Two now after Manny's last fight.

I see Floyd making his excuses..

If Floyd vs Manny fight never happens, than Floyd may as well retire for me otherwise what was the point of the Ortiz fight. Khan is just trying to talk his way into contention so wouldn't read too much into it.

I doubt Floyd will fight Khan until Khan has a Welterwight world title which will be a good 12 months away, Why Khan is fighting Peterson before stepping up is beyond me. If he really wanted that fight, his next fight would be at Welter

Mayweather would dismantle Khan. Khan's speed is exceptional which could be a prob for Mayweather early but he isn't a clever boxer. McClosky's been mentioned so I'll throw in what I noticed in that bout: for a few rounds, Khan could barely touch him, he kept throwing the same combo over and over again and hitting thin air. Eventually he started landing a few but it took him an age to make the adjustment that a guy like Mayweather would make in an instant.
Mayweather is just far too clever and seasoned for him.

Floyd would love Khan, if he can manage to fit him into his schedule: easy win easy money. Maybe he will, as Manny certainly doesn't want to take on Floyd, and we can only guess why that is.

It does baffle me why Khan isn't stepping to Welter now rather than later, experience is vital IMO.

Totally agree with both the McClosky fight summary you gave and the sum up of Mayweather v Khan, FMW is to quick, too clever and too good..And will remain that for 12 - 15 month, after that things change. IMO

But to answer the Thread Question. No Mayweather won't avoid Khan, he knows he can win..Therefore..CHA---CHING!!!

Khan, Martinez or Pacqiao are the only fights that are of real interest. Beyond those three, and without going above 160lb, I don't see any intrigue in other potential challengers.

I was just thinking that the other day. Martinez would be an option but i suppose only if he dropped back down to 11st unless Floyd jumps up to middle which i canny see happening.

If Khan had a chin I could see him beating Mayweather based on workrate and timing.

He's already won a title at 154 so 160 would represent another weight division conquer. He hates De La Hoya and Oscar managed to win a middleweight world title so maybe that could entice him. We all know that money is the only enticer for Floyd though.

I had a horrible thought the other day that he may try and go after Canelo, but I have faith in Team Alvarez wanting to keep him as a champion and steering him away from that fight if it ever got offered.

Cotto, Margarito, Williams..... better late than never. Still dont see Mayweather going for any of them yet though.

Forget Martinez, Mayweather wont go near him with a barge pole.

Pacquiao and Khan are the likely options, but i think Mayweather will dodge both. Pacquiao he has dodged for a long time now, and i think he'll do the same with Khan.

Other than that lot, there is nobody else for him to fight...... but history shows us that he'll find someone from somewhere, and the boxing world will be strung along all over again.

Its never an easy win against someone quicker than you who is a volume puncher, unless you nail them in the first round.

Your missing my point. Mayweather is scared of Manny. He whas basically refused to fight. Khan from what I have seen lately would over-whelm Mayweather on the ropes. An old De La Hoya was hammering Floyd there until the later rounds, remember? Now think of an old Oscar and compare that attack with a young Amir Khan.....

I think Khan now has the speed, timing and sheer workrate to really put the spanner in the works for Floyd.

Look at my past posts, I am not a Khan fan. But the more I see of him, more I am respecting him.

Khan for me is a massively dangerous fight for Floyd and I think Mayweather MUST know that.

Not true - show me a concrete peice of evidence where Floyd has ducked manny? Floyd should be applauded for trying to clean up boxing my insisting on Olympic style drug testing
If he were anyone else he would be. Why is no one saying manny is ducking Floyd because he refuses to Olympic style testing??

And for those that are trying to ridicule me regarding this thread, instead of just looking at the title, read the lines. Things don't always go to script. Especially in the Boxing world, as I am sure we all know.

Mayweathers scared of manny? Sort your head out. Because he's asking for certain tests to be done, doesn't make him scared. Plus, khan ain't half the fighter manny is.

But you must see that Khan is the future and these guys have wasted a lot of time in not fighitng eachother.

And if Mayweather wanted the Manny fight, keep in mind how much money it would generate, then why hasn't he> Because he's hiding behind his excuses.

You can turn it the other way too. If manny wants the fight, take the test and stop using it as an excuse.

Khan might be the future but right now, Floyd wipes the floor with him

Floyd would be favorite with the bookies v Manny - rightly so, and most in the business would back him to end Manny's run - including Floyd himself. I seriously doubt he's afraid of Manny - Just no way ( and I don't even like Floyd ). Believe what you like of course, but it's Manny who's ducking this fight.

And of course, if Floyd said "don't bother with the test" Pac Man would take the fight.....
